July 1, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Residents of New Mexico will start receiving their newest round of tax rebate checks as early as next week in a state effort to offset the impact of rising U.S. prices. The state's Legislature and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham approved rounds of rebates and economic relief this year, according to the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department. State residents have received stimulus payments in May and June, but this new round will be different from those that came before in that the tax rebates are subject to a certain income threshold, Albuquerque's KRQE reported. Inflation hit a 40-year high in May, which has put major pressure on President Joe Biden and state leaders and legislators to take action to offset the rising costs. Americans have been particularly hit hard in the wallet when paying for gas , food and travel . The New Mexico tax department's information page specifies that married couples filing joint returns, heads of household and surviving spouses are … [Read more...] about Stimulus check update: New Mexicans to receive more payments next week

Summer holidays under threat from airline strikes across Europe

July 1, 2022 by metro.co.uk

Holidays across Europe could be thrown into chaos this summer due to mass strikes and staff shortages across the continent. British holidaymakers have faced a nightmare in recent weeks due to delays, cancellations and luggage going missing at the UK’s busiest airports. More problems are expected after British Airways workers at Heathrow voted to strike in a dispute over pay. Around 700 workers will walk out between July and September after the airline failed to restore a 10% pay cut imposed during the pandemic. However, it’s not just the UK facing these problems. Workers in France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Scandinavia have voted to or are discussing strike action over pay and conditions. Staff shortages have also caused delays and baggage problems in other popular destinations like Bucharest and Portugal. Thousands of British passengers are set to be caught up in the disruption, which affects major airlines like easyJet and Ryanair. Katie Price has been spotted picking up some bargains during a shopping trip after flying out to Thailand with Carl Woods following her recent court date. The former glamour model, 44, and her fiancé, 33, were seen picking out some purchases in H&M during their travels as they topped up their holiday wardrobes. Katie kept it casual for the outing in Koh Samui , rocking a white Ralph Lauren dress with a Gucci bumbag around her waist, as well as high-heeled Crocs. The bright pink hybrid Croc with a high heel is believed to be from the brand’s collaboration with Balenciaga and retails at a cool £450, which she wore as a mule rather than in ‘sports mode’ with the strap at the back folded down. Katie and Carl had flown to Thailand earlier in the week after the mother-of-five avoided a prison sentence for breaching a restraining order .
