GETTING the kids’ Christmas gifts right is every parent’s nightmare. But spare a thought for Santa — particularly when he’s asked to turn a brother into a sister or for a bin collection date to be changed. These are some of the cute questions asked by 1,000 two to 12-year-olds who have visited Father Christ-mas at a UK theme park this year. Hilariously, 24 per cent of them even try to BRIBE Santa to ensure they get their wish, including offering pyjamas, socks — or cash. The simmering feud between former NRL teammates Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk has continued as they try put recent hostilities behind them. The pair shared a few words and a tense embrace after the Sydney Roosters defeated Melbourne Storm 14-6 at the SCG on Saturday night to book a spot in next week's NRL grand final. Relations between the pair have reportedly been sour since Cronk left Storm two years ago, and escalated further after his infamous chokehold around Smith's neck in last year's NRL grand final. It appeared tensions had eased when the pair shook hands and shared a brief hug and a smile following the preliminary final on Saturday night. While some say Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk have buried the hatchet, others disagree But newly retired Cronulla Sharks legend Paul Gallen said he remained unconvinced after the awkward encounter. The Cooper Cronk-Cameron Smith embrace at the end of the game - it was very brief. Very brief, if I can say the least,' Gallen said on … [Read more...] about ‘Something’s going on… it was very cold’: What REALLY happened when ‘feuding’ NRL stars Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith embraced at the SCG
All dressed up for a night on the town, Georgia Kousoulou decided to share a pic of herself and Chloe Sims in their glad rags. But the shot - which saw Chloe show off her rounded rump in a curve-skimming backless white dress - didn’t quite get the reception they’d hoped for. As well as attracting a slew of mean comments about Chloe’s behind, the pair also got trolled in the harshest way, with one cruel follower comparing them to a horror film. "Bride of Frankenstein!! Oh dear poor Chloe,” wrote one user, while other added, "How has Chloe’s bum got so big did she get them bum implants in the end???” Trying to find a way to phrase it nicely, one said, "Please forgive me if I sound rude, I really don't mean to but what has happened to Chloe - her bottom looks really weird. I am somewhat concerned as I really like her." "What is going on with Chloe’s bum,” queried another, more direct, follower. For those that aren't aware, Chloe has spent a … [Read more...] about Georgia Kousoulou and Chloe Sims trolled in the harshest way over this picture – but can you guess why?
Romcoms developed by standup comedy stars usually work like this: the jokes and the observational material are front-loaded into the first 15 minutes. But once the wheels of narrative need to start moving, the comedy gets ground out. It’s something to do with needing to identify with the characters, to get on board for the upcoming happy ending and leave behind the cynicism and wrongness that provided the ecosystem for jokes. The Big Sick isn’t like that. Or not exactly. It’s a stranger-than-fiction date movie of enormous charm and sweetness, which plunges you into a deliberate seriousness after the setup. There is a sudden stab of anxiety at the point where most romcoms begin their semi-intentional slide away from irony. The film is based on the true story of its co-writers, who are a married couple: Pakistani-American standup and actor Kumail Nanjiani and the white comedy writer-producer Emily V Gordon. Nanjiani comes from a family background where arranged … [Read more...] about The Big Sick review – boy meets girl, girl falls into coma, seriously funny romcom ensues
From Pamela Anderson ’s iconic red swimsuit to David Hasselhoff ’s slow-mo running, Baywatch had it all. More than a billion people in 144 countries tuned in weekly in its 1990s heyday to follow the adventures of the camera-friendly Californian lifeguards. Now, 18 years after it left our TV screens, Mitch Buchannon and CJ Parker are back – and this time they’re in IMAX. The film adaptation, which stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron , had its premiere in sun-drenched Miami this weekend. But despite having a cameo and walking the red carpet, there is one star who is not entirely convinced by the decision to turn the drama into an all-out comedy – the man himself, David Hasselhoff. In fact The Hoff, as he is also known, is clearly hassled.
