Tesla.Man. I don’t know. I don’t know, man. Elon Musk tweeted yesterday that he is “considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured,” and the internet was engulfed in a ball of flame that was visible from space. There are questions! Let’s start with: Why? Here is Musk’s explanation from yesterday afternoon:First, a final decision has not yet been made, but the reason for doing this is all about creating the environment for Tesla to operate best. As a public company, we are subject to wild swings in our stock price that can be a major distraction for everyone working at Tesla, all of whom are shareholders. Being public also subjects us to the quarterly earnings cycle that puts enormous pressure on Tesla to make decisions that may be right for a given quarter, but not necessarily right for the long-term. Finally, as the most shorted stock in the history of the stock market, being public means that there are large numbers of people who … [Read more...] about Elon Musk Has Some Fun With Tesla

The Formula One title battle was mired on Sunday night in anger and acrimony after Mercedes refused to rule out the possibility that Ferrari had cheated their way to victory in the British Grand Prix. After an electrifying race here at Silverstone, where Sebastian Vettel claimed a 51st career victory to extend his championship lead to eight points, Lewis Hamilton suggested that he had been deliberately targeted by Kimi Raikkonen, the German’s Ferrari team-mate, in an opening-lap collision. “Interesting tactics from this side,” said a visibly angry Hamilton on the podium, after staging one of his most stirring recoveries to vault from dead last to second. Referring to an incident at Le Castellet last month, where Vettel hit Valtteri Bottas at the first corner, he explained: “It’s two races in which a Mercedes has been taken out by a Ferrari. Valtteri and I have both lost out in those scenarios.” Toto Wolff, team principal of the Silver Arrows, … [Read more...] about Ferrari accused of cheating by an enraged Lewis Hamilton as F1 title fight gets dirty at British Grand Prix
Bonds have more fun ...but these days, Pierce Brosnan tells Event, it’s more about sequins and twirls than guns and girls – as he ditches the DJ for Spandex and board shorts in Mamma Mia 2 (and says the next 007 absolutely HAS to be a man) In a suitably Bond-like lair hidden away in a grand New York hotel, Pierce Brosnan is recalling the moment he first watched himself singing in Mamma Mia! – sitting side by side with his Malibu neighbour and good friend, the music legend Barbra Streisand. Brosnan, whose voice was later likened by critics to a ‘water buffalo’ and a ‘wounded raccoon’, chuckles. ‘We had a screening at Barbra’s house. She really wanted to see the movie and see Meryl performing, so we settled down in her movie theatre and the lights went down.’ Pierce Brosnan has never stopped working since his career took off in the mid-Eighties He pauses for dramatic effect. ‘Inevitably it came to the part where … [Read more...] about Pierce Brosnan swaps the tux for sequins in Mamma Mia 2!
E3's pre-show showcases and events have provided a few surprises so far--but most of the big surprises come with big buts. Microsoft announced a successor to the Xbox One and a new streaming service that could make consoles themselves redundant -- BUT offered no more info on either other than the promise they're working on them. They announced Halo 6 -- OK, Halo Infinite -- but just via a demo of the new engine that will be running it. They also showed off some of Gears of War 5, but this doesn't look to offer anything substantially different to previous games in the blood-and-chainsaws scifi shooter series. Bethesda revealed The Elder Scrolls VI, a proper single-player follow-up to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim... but again, revealed no more than the fact it exists and will be a traditional single player experience. They also revealed The Elder Scrolls Blades, but that is a primarily mobile experience with other platforms tacked on. Fallout 76 was the star of the show, but the demo and … [Read more...] about E3 2018 Cheat Sheet: What’s hot, what’s not and what have you missed?
