Nelson’s Column: Gavin ‘Paintballin’ Williamson may want PM job but Michael Gove is fave
Gavin Williamson has finally given up on his wacky notion of paintballing Spanish patrol boats which trespass in British waters off Gibraltar. Paintballs are for kids, and mine are the only people I’ve ever fired them at. While splattering the Spanish Guardia Civil would make for a fun afternoon’s entertainment it might also prove dangerously provocative. Brexit putting thousands of ski resort jobs at risk for British workers
Brexit has put up to 25,000 British seasonal jobs in ski resorts and summer activity holidays at risk, with businesses saying they are facing an “existential crisis” because they will not be able to hire British staff after March if the UK crashes out of the EU. But Brexit has broken their business model, said former owner Charles Owen, managing director of European Pubs Ltd. Ski package holidays, that typically include airport transfers, accommodation and lift passes, are traditionally staffed by British nationals who do everything from meeting and greeting to the chalet catering and cleaning. Owen’s business model is based on the availability of young British … [Read more...] about Brexit putting thousands of ski resort jobs at risk for British workers

A YOUNG widower, who was forced to bury his wife in her wedding dress just 16 weeks after they walked down the aisle has revealed he was left “too numb to cry.” Michael Herz, 29, from Cheshire, lost Saima, 30, four months after they got married when she contracted a rare brain bug days before Christmas 2018. On December 18, 2018, Michael said his final goodbyes to Saima at her funeral following her battle with encephalitis. Saima’s death came as a shock as her symptoms had initially been mistaken for the flu – but she died just days later after the earth-shattering diagnosis. And Mike, who also lost his mum and brother in a car accident in 2002, is still struggling to come to terms with his wife’s passing. Speaking to the MailOnline he said: “I don't even have the words to describe what has happened. It's a joke, a horrible, incredible, unfathomable joke.Initially Mike was told by doctors that as Saima was young and healthy that she should make a … [Read more...] about I buried my wife in her wedding dress weeks after we wed – but was too numb to cry when we switched her life support off
