A heartbroken mother who lost her daughter to toxic shock syndrome from wearing a tampon has told how the 19-year-old passed away in her arms as she 'begged her not to die'. Dawn Massabni, 56, from New Jersey, admitted she is still haunted by the moment Maddy lost her fight on March 30 earlier this year. The fashion student, who celebrated her birthday just three days earlier, was out for dinner with her family when she began feeling unwell. Her condition deteriorated rapidly over the next couple of days until Dawn desperately called the paramedics when Maddy lost consciousness. Pioneering Second World War codebreaker Alan Turing will be the next person to feature on the £50 note, the Bank of England has confirmed today. The mathematician, who cracked the German Enigma code and was known as the 'father of computer science' for his innovative methods, was revealed as the new face of the currency at a conference at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester this morning. It comes after the Bank of England asked the public to nominate a person with a historic scientific contribution for the new note last year. Governor Mark Carney revealed Turing was chosen from a list of 989 candidates put forward in more than 220,000 nominations. The new polymer £50 note is expected to enter circulation by the end of 2021. A heartbroken mum has described how she was so overwhelmed with grief that she had to be held back from bringing her dead son home. Devastated Claire Jones, 32, from Blackburn, Lancashire, had found a spade and was determined to 'bring back' her baby son, Charlie, who died from sepsis, by digging up his body. Comedian and actor Lenny Henry has detailed the shocking violence he endured at home as a child at the hands of his mother. The 61-year-old recalled that Winnie Henry would discipline Lenny and his six siblings with beatings using boots, branches and belts. She once threw a chair at Lenny as he ran away, and hit him in the face with a frying pan. Winnie, who was delighted when she discovered Lenny's comedic talents, warned her children that they had to lose their Jamaican accents in order to fit in in Britain. Sir Lenny also detailed the horrific racist abuse that has plagued him - particularly as part of a Jamaican family in the West Midlands in the 70s.
