What's new?Who'd have thought it? When Ford replaced the famous Escort back in 1998, almost no-one would have wagered money on the replacement car lasting a quarter of a century. But the Ford Focus has become a worthy successor to the mighty Escort; it's now 20 years old and will see 25 at least, if not make its third decade. We are now in the fourth generation of the Focus, which has just gone on sale: you'll see it on the roads by early autumn. The Focus was the third biggest-selling car in the UK last year. Its smaller … [Read more...] about All-new Ford Focus gets sharp new look and bags more tech

FORD’S all-new Focus has been unveiled and goes on sale early in September with a big cash boost and a big surprise – all are cheaper than the current model and interestingly the range will not feature a four door saloon in the UK. Prices for the five-door hatchback will start at £17,930 for the entry-level Style and that’s £2,300 less while the expected best UK seller, the Zetec, starts at £19,300, £850 cheaper. The sporty ST Line enters at £21,570 which is over £250 cheaper than the current model. Most Importantly, the new Focus is based on an all-new Ford platform, called C2 which will be used in other future models. Even the cheapest of the new Focus range has so many high tech features on board it is probably the most sophisticated family car Ford has ever made. In terms of looks it’s completely different from any previous Ford medium-sized model with a sleek styled body and sitting lower on the road. Overall it has a more … [Read more...] about New Ford Focus details about price, performance and specification
It doesn’t seem like 20 years since Ford launched the Focus but in truth Henry’s Escort replacement is part of the scenery in the UK, where it has hovered in the top-five best seller list for the last two decades. As well as sales of 1.97 million here, it’s done alright in the rest of the world, too – 16 million have found homes globally, with even the Pope having used one at times. So now we get Mark IV version. Visibly bigger (though we’re to come back to that), 50kg lighter, 10 per cent more economical, and cheaper, this new vision of family motoring was launched in what is, with the possible exception of the Goodwin Sands, the least car-friendly site in the UK. ‘Here East’ in the Olympic Park in East London does at least partially fulfill Ford’s global ambitions to be a modern digital mobility company, but beyond that the choice was baffling. “It’s a unique space for entrepreneurs, tech … [Read more...] about New Ford Focus revealed in London: it’s cheaper, it’s lighter, but will it be better?
THE new Ford Focus has been revealed - and it's cheaper than ever. The fourth generation starts from £17,930, more than £2,000 less than the outgoing model. The new family car promises to be a big hit with almost two million sold in the UK since the original launched 20 years ago. It's one of the UK's biggest selling cars and the new model gets an estate, crossover version and a posh Vignale option. Buyers ordering now can expect deliveries to start in September as Ford takes the fight to the Volkswagen Golf. The 2018 Focus gets a completely new design that's sportier and sleeker with a lower roofline and longer body. Despite the new model undercutting the outgoing car by £2,300 it's packed with latest gadgets. Stop&Go, speed sign recognition and lane assistance technology will help on your morning commute. The car can park itself at the push of a button and can even help you get out of tight spots with its "Park-out Assist". The Focus is also the first Ford in … [Read more...] about The new Ford Focus is here – and Britain’s favourite family car is now cheaper than ever
A 1999 Ford Focus rally car driven by the legendary Colin McRae is to be auctioned next month. The bespoke vehicle was used by McRae during the Rally Catalunya and Rally Tour De Corse – where it finished fourth – plus the Rally Acropolis and Rally China. In total, it competed in 11 rounds of the World Rally Championship, being driven by other rally greats as well, including Petter Solberg and Thomas Radstrom. McRae, who died in a helicopter accident in 2007 aged just 39, won the WRC Drivers’ championship title in 1995 – the youngest and the first British driver to do so, which made him a household name. Four years later, he joined Ford, which also unveiled a new car for the ’99 season – the Focus WRC. The four-cylinder left-hand-drive car is being offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions at its Race Retro Competition Car Sale on February 23, with an estimate of £120,000 to £140,000. Adam Rutter, classic car specialist at Silverstone … [Read more...] about Colin McRae’s 1999 Ford Focus rally car to go under the hammer
