The center was expected to pass just east of Jamaica and near or over the south-western tip of Haiti early Tuesday before heading to eastern Cuba, the US National Hurricane Center in Miami said. “We are looking at a dangerous hurricane that is heading into the vicinity of western Haiti and eastern Cuba,” said Richard Pasch, a senior hurricane specialist with the center. “People who are impacted by things like flooding and mudslides hopefully would get out and relocate because that’s where we have seen loss of life in the past.” “It has the potential of being catastrophic,” said … [Read more...] about Hurricane Matthew: floods hit Jamaica and Haiti as storm approaches

Hundreds of flood victims whose homes were deluged in 2019 are yet to receive money promised to them by the Government. Homeowners say the delays mean they “live in fear” of another flood while waiting for payouts pledged 16 months ago by Prime Minister Boris Johnson . The Property Flood Resilience scheme (PFR) is worth up to £5000 to home owners left devastated by floods during the last two years.
