A drunken and disruptive passenger who repeatedly abused staff on a flight from Gatwick to St Lucia has been jailed. A Sussex Police statement says that Uche Ezedinma had to be physically restrained and caused the Virgin Atlantic aircraft to be diverted due to his persistently poor behaviour. No passenger or crew should have to experience such abject abuse on board an aircraft He was verbally and physically aggressive throughout, which included spitting at a member of staff, punching the overhead storage and threatening numerous other cabin crew. THE JOYCE family were supposed to be on a plane to Portugal for their first holiday abroad together. Instead, Aimee, 32, left Luton airport with her husband Elliot, 35, and their three children in tears because EasyJet had cancelled their flight after they'd checked in. Aimee, who lives in Dunstable, booked the holiday in September last year and spent around £1,800 on flights to Faro for nine people, including her parents and her in-laws. Ryanair expects to cancel up to 100 flights this weekend, it says, including its Dublin to Nice return services on Saturday and Sunday. Aer Lingus has also cancelled four flights tomorrow (Saturday), with a "significant" risk of additional cancellations or delays, it says. The strikes come during the peak summer travel season. Nice, Marseilles and Lyon are the affected airports, but Air Traffic Controller strikes have previously affected routes passing through French airspace to other destinations, including Spain and Portugal. A RUSSIAN guitarist has died from a flesh-eating disease after making fellow passengers vomit on a flight from Spain to Amsterdam. Andrey Suchilin made headlines around the world in May when his Transavia flight from Canary Islands was forced to make an emergency landing. It came after fellow passengers began fainting and vomiting due to his ‘unbearably’ bad smell. It was believed Suchilin simply had poor hygiene, but it has transpired that he was suffering from a serious bacterial infection – necrosis – that caused part of his body to die. His flesh was literally rotting away, explaining why travellers described the smell as ‘worse than a rotting corpse’. He had been taken straight to hospital where medics confirmed he was suffering from gangrene, a form of necrosis, or premature tissue death, caused by a lack of blood and oxygen to the tissue.
