MANY women struggle to find the perfect-fit bra and are often left in the dark over what size they really are. Here's how you can measure yourself to find out your correct size - without even leaving the house! How can you measure your bra size at home? To measure your bra size at home, all you need to be wearing is a non-padded bra and have a tape measure in inches to hand. First, you need to measure around the bottom of the band of the bra directly under the bust - making sure the tape is very snug. Take the measurement in inches and round it up to the nearest inch. If the size is an even number add four, and if it is odd add five - this will then give you your back size. Then take the tape measure across your bust and again measure in inches, rounding to the nearest inch. The difference in the inches between the two then gives the cup size. For example, a one inch difference would make you an A, two a B, three a C, four a DD, five a DD, six an E and so on. So if your back size is 34 … [Read more...] about How to measure bra size correctly and work out my true cup size using a UK bra size calculator

Why: “In winter’s deepest, darkest days, where should you go to unwind? To a working lighthouse in Donegal, of course.” Those are the words of Mark Keenan, Irish Independent Property Editor, who stayed at the restored, 200-year-old lighthouse keeper’s cottages at St John’s Point in Donegal. Over a couple of days, he caught his own pollock, strolled on empty beaches, and slept beneath the historic marine beacon sentinel. Since 2011, North East food fans have been enjoying Papa Ganoush’s street food at events and markets across the region. Father and son founders, Tim and Tom, have received rave reviews for their food and, earlier this year, opened their very first restaurant in Whitley Bay. We decided to stop by and see whether local diners should flock to the seaside town for their meze fix... What’s the place like? As a Newcastle resident, rather than a Whitley Bay local, I wasn’t sure what to expect once I headed over to the coast. The restaurant is located on Park View, a street lined with shops, cafes and bars, and it seems to fit in well with the ambience of the area. Upon arrival, I was surprised to find merely a door leading to an upstairs eatery, but it turns out Papa Ganoush is located above The Ahar, an Indian restaurant. The stairwell leads into a spacious bar area, which has a couple of tables, as well as a basic bar. That then takes you through into the main room, … [Read more...] about Is the street-food success Papa Ganoush a restaurant to remember?
Waterproofing is of utmost importance when you live in a country where it rains over 100 days a year. Life in boggy Britain calls for investment in a decent waterproof jacket that will protect you next time the heavens open without warning. There are two keywords to remember before beginning your search: waterproof and breathable. Cheap and cheerful macs-in-sacs and rain ponchos may keep you dry, but they aren’t breathable – you’ll get hot and sweaty pretty quickly, which isn’t ideal when hiking, cycling and the like. Be wary of jackets labelled water-repellent and water-resistant as these tend not to be fully waterproof in heavy rain. Built for milder conditions, their seams are often unsealed, meaning water can seep through. Look for a waterproof jacket that either uses branded technology, such as the reliable Gore-Tex, or own-brand technology to make its outer layer waterproof.
