A Porsche driver who rigged his car with a 'laser jammer' to stop police speed guns taking an accurate reading has been fined £5,000. Grant Robert Faulkner, 54, was behind the wheel of the 4x4 when mobile speed cameras twice tried to clock how fast he was going. But due to interference generated by the jammer, the safety camera could not determine at what speed it was travelling. North Yorkshire Police launched an investigation into the incident and Faulkner's Porsche Cayenne was seized and examined. Officers discovered a laser jamming device below the number plate which blocked camera signals and enabled him to speed without being clocked. I am advanced enough in age to know not to be put off when I can’t do something after one hour. I can barely learn a new word in that time, never mind an entirely new way of distributing my weight so that I can jump on a bicycle. Second, this is a young person’s game. There is a niche middle-aged woman BMX scene, dominated – possibly entirely populated – by Lesley Reynolds, 53, from Truro, the oldest member of the British team and, sincerely, an inspiration to us all. There is a track in my nearest park, but it is full of six-year-olds. Barging into that would be only fractionally more appropriate than going to soft play. At the moment, though, I … [Read more...] about Fit in my 40s: am I too old to be practising BMX in the park?
This is the incredible moment a Bentley that has been fitted with caterpillar tracks reaches 81mph - with its creators claiming it is the world's fastest tracked vehicle. The classic motor is usually associated with luxury cruising rather than off-roading, but a group of Russians behind the Bentley Ultratank project were determined to merge the two. The impressive vehicle was created by combining a Bentley Continental GT with elements of a tank. Despite reaching 81mph, creators say that they are still not finished, and hope to get nearer to the 200mph that the unaltered car can achieve.
