I don't care that we're dancing while bemused commuters trickle past on their way home, or even that the instructor yelling at me is actually my six-year-old son, Theo. Life begins at 40, and for one Morley man, his big birthday saw the start of an incredible fitness regime which has resulted in recognition of the world stage. Charles Townend this month clinched fifth place at an international fitness competition at the age of 42, going up against rivals from across the globe.The Morley local, who works at Technoprint in the town, placed in the over 40s category of the Miami Pro World Championships in St Albans on Sunday, April 7. An incredible feat for any aspiring bodybuilder, but Charles’ journey is made even more astonishing by the fact that three years ago he suffered a stroke.Charles was kept off work for three months as the stroke impaired his speech and brain. Mortuaries are increasingly forced to buy extra large fridges because bodies are too fat to fit in them, new data has found. The number of “oversized” body fridge spaces installed in London’s mortuaries has jumped from 126 to 165 since 2013, with the trend replicated across the country according to one top mortuary salesman. The largest mortuary fridges sold by manufacturers are 90cm wide and are becoming ever-more popular with health trusts, whilst the smallest “space saver” fridges, 56cm wide, are going out of fashion. The news will add to worries about Britain's growing obesity crisis. St George’s Health Trust in Wandsworth, south London, added the most oversized fridge spaces, increasing the number from five to 15, according to the Freedom of Information data received by the BBC.
