A group of great white sharks has gathered just miles from the New York coast over July 4, Ocearch's shark tracker shows. A huge great white called Scot, measuring more than 12 feet long and weighing 1,644 pounds, was tracked roughly 100 miles south of the city on July 3. Scot was first tagged by the ocean research organization in September 2021, when he was found off Ironbound Island in Nova Scotia. Like most North Atlantic sharks, Scot spent the winter in the south, off the Gulf Of Mexico. Scot is not the only great white shark to be tracked in the waters off New York recently. Freya, who measures 11.26 feet and weighs 883 pounds, was tracked swimming close to Hamilton in Madison County, New York, on July 4. Two police officers in the U.K. have been dismissed over "inexcusable" WhatsApp messages—including one that compared Meghan Markle to a racist toy. PC Sukhdev Jeer and PC Paul Hefford were fired from the Metropolitan Police 's Forensic Services, while allegations were also proven against former PC Richard Hammond. The trio had shared "vile" messages on a WhatsApp group called "But They Promised," including one sent shortly before Meghan and Prince Harry 's May 2018 wedding. Anti- Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Twitter -users appear to have mistakenly trolled mental health hospitals located in the area that gives the couple their royal titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Tweets targeted Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, an organisational unit within Britain's National Health Service in the county of Sussex. It has nothing to do with the couple's titles. Some tweets targeted a post about the organization's partnership with mental health texting service Shout, which is backed by Prince William and Kate Middleton . The negative comments tagged Shout's official Twitter account as well as the Sussex Partnership one. Prince Charles' "career would be over" if he was a politician facing the same cash-for-honors scandal that has rocked his charity for almost a year, anti-monarchy campaign group Republic said. Britain's next king has been hit by a new wave of allegations relating to an honorary title he gave a Conservative Party donor who seemingly helped bail out a failing project. It follows recent accusations he accepted €3 million in cash, including €1 million stuffed into a suitcase, from a Qatari politician . There is no suggestion the cash payments were in any way illegal, and they were deposited into the prince's Charitable Fund after due diligence. An orca carcass wrapped in fishing gear has been spotted off the coast of Oregon , triggering a search to recover what may be the first occurrence of a dead killer whale in the state. A fisherman from Salem, Oregon, uploaded a picture of the orca's body wrapped in fishing gear to the website iFish.com, which he estimated to be between 16 and 18 foot long. The orca had a crab pot line wrapped around its tail, and was found around 25 miles out from Newport. "It's a sight I wish I could un-see," the fisherman said in the post. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, orcas are most often seen off Depoe Bay and Newport, attracted by the lure of seals and sea lions near the coast.
