SURVIVAL games are often a mixed bag, but these ones are the very best. The genre has become somewhat oversaturated in recent years thanks to YouTuber's obsession with them. It took off in a major way in the 2010s, and seemingly every indie developer on the planet wanted to have a go. This means there are plenty of cheap and terrible survival/crafting games out there for you to try. However, every now and then a shining beacon emerges from the rubble, a truly great survival game that has unique ideas and competent mechanics. It can often be hard to pick out these gems amongst all the rubbish, so we’re here to tell you the very best survival games on all platforms. This has been the most extraordinary General Election since 1918
The General Election on Thursday was the most extraordinary in British history since modern elections began in 1918. We’ve had some exciting votes, from the closer than expected result of 2010 to the transformational victories of Clement Attlee, Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair in 1945, 1979 and 1997. But I’ve known nothing like 2017 in the dozen elections I have lived through since February 1974 for sheer unpredictability, drama and emotion . Ted Heath’s February 1974 general election, extraordinary in itself, provides the best mirror through which to view the utterly historic events of the last 36 hours. In both February 1974 and this time, Conservative Prime Ministers who were ill at ease with themselves and not natural communicators called a general election that they need not have triggered only to see it backfire disastrously against them and their party, leaving the country in a desperately vulnerable position at a time of great national need. Probe a little deeper, … [Read more...] about This has been the most extraordinary General Election since 1918
I uncovered America’s secret serial killer – he was as psychotic as Ted Bundy and kept sick snaps of victims in shoebox
NO one knew that the blue-eyed and “silver-tongued” Bruce Lindahl was a serial killer - until new DNA technology revealed his horrendous crimes. Lindahl is believed to have murdered at least nine young people during a nine-year period up until 1981 in the United States and is being investigated for many more cold cases. The true nature of this stone-hearted kidnapper, rapist and strangler only emerged when Detective Chris Loudon tried to solve the 46-year-old case of slain schoolgirl Pam Maurer, 16, from Lisle, near Chicago in Illinois. His investigation led him to a box full of naked photographs of young women taken by the twisted Lindahl. Inside were Polaroids and prints of often terrified, underage and drugged females either tricked or forced to come home with the sadistic predator. Most escaped alive, but many did not. A Radical Feminist Vision of Total Escape
On a cool spring evening, a woman prepares risotto in the spartan kitchen of a hunting lodge, eats it alone, and scoops some out for the dog. The next morning, she makes a startling discovery: At some point during the night, an invisible, impermeable barrier has appeared outside, dividing her from much of the Austrian countryside. She calls it, simply, “the wall.” When she presses her hand to it, it feels “like a windowpane.” She beats it with her fist; it holds. She walks alongside it to locate where it ends; it doesn’t. (Later, when it becomes clear that everyone on the other side of the wall has died, their corpses petrified like “stone,” she decides she’d rather remain separated from “the incomprehensible thing” that had happened to them.) She is stranded; she is completely alone. Presumably, every person she knew and loved—her two daughters, her friends—is on the other side; she will never see them again. The Wall , Marlen Haushofer’s brutal and absorbing dystopian novel, … [Read more...] about A Radical Feminist Vision of Total Escape

‘Sweetest’ boy, 5, has rare disorder that means stepping outside to play could kill him
Meet the five-year-old with a rare genetic disorder which means playing outside in the fresh air could kill him. Albie Tilford was diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) last month - leaving him in need of a life-saving bone marrow transplant. CGD is a disorder which prevents white blood cells from killing bacterial or fungi infections.
