Liverpool will head to Qatar this December looking to win the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in the Reds’ history. With the Club World Cup set to be revamped in 2021, this year offers the Reds what is likely to be their last chance to lift the only major trophy they’ve never won. Liverpool lost 3-0 to Flamengo in 1981 and 1-0 to Independiente in 1984 back when the winners of the trophy were decided by a one-off game rather than a mini-tournament under its former Intercontinental Cup guise. Meanwhile, the Reds also suffered defeat in their only previous entry in the competition in its … [Read more...] about The strange story behind Liverpool’s last FIFA Club World Cup

Liverpool will enter the 2019 Club World Cup at the semi-final stage with the latest edition of the tournament set to be held in Qatar this December. Infantino hopes to expand the existing, annual seven-team Club World Cup by turning it into a 24-club competition played every four years, starting in 2021. If plans for a new, expanded Club World Cup are adopted in Miami in March, the competition will be commercialised in the traditional way, via a tender process," a source close to the project told AFP. Another source added that the investors could still … [Read more...] about Offer to invest $25 billion in new FIFA Club World Cup ‘discarded’
