Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen was a stylish pilgrim for new TV show: ‘I wasn’t going to do it dressed in Gore-Tex!’

May 24, 2022 by metro.co.uk

Interior designer and Changing Rooms icon Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, 57, on meeting RuPaul at the pearly gates, his fashion sense, and seeing an end to minimalism. We’ve most recently seen you on Pilgrimage: The Road To The Scottish Isles – why did you want to do it? I’ve always been fascinated by the programme. I was rather hoping it was somewhere a bit more exotic than Northern Ireland and Scotland, because we talked about Buddhist pilgrimages in Indonesia and a Shinto one in Japan, but I got the rainy pilgrimage. But I love the humility of it. A pilgrimage starts from the moment you open your front door – why does it have to be an exotic experience? How did you find all the walking? I loved it. There’s something very meditative about a walking rhythm, which is why pilgrimages are so powerful. You’re suddenly alone with your own footsteps. The mist would close in and you couldn’t see the crew. It’s basically ‘help, I’m an agnostic, get me out of here!’ It’s putting … [Read more...] about Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen was a stylish pilgrim for new TV show: ‘I wasn’t going to do it dressed in Gore-Tex!’

Jack Hurn, 26, of Redditch, died on 11 June 2021 after developing blood clots on his brain. Alex Jones told Birmingham Coroner's Court he decided to have the vaccine as the Dudley clinic had run out of Pfizer. She said the whole process at the clinic on 29 May was "very rushed". At the time, people under 30 in the UK had begun being offered alternative Covid vaccines to AstraZeneca due to evidence linking it to rare blood clots. The recommendation followed a review by the UK drugs regulator that found 79 people suffered the rare condition after the vaccination, 19 of whom died. There have been many stories about the virtually unlimited powers of Huey Long when he was Louisiana's governor. Here's one Rick Marshall, of Baton Rouge, heard from his grandparents: "They arrived at the Port Allen-Baton Rouge ferry landing a minute late, to see the boat departing for the other side of the river. "A car pulled up beside them with a familiar occupant. "As the ferry approached the middle of the river, Huey Long exited the vehicle in his white linen suit and waved his white hat at the boat. "The ferry then executed a perfect U-turn and returned to the landing, where my grandparents were allowed to board with The Kingfish to cross the Big Muddy." For extra credit? Steve Baumgartner, of Mandeville, tells this speed trap tale: "About 20 years ago, a relative from North Dakota was down visiting. He and his wife wanted to see Grand Isle. When he returned to my home he told us he had received a speeding ticket in Golden Meadow. "He said after the officer … [Read more...] about Smiley: Not parting of the waters, but close
