Mattia Binotto gave an irritated response when questioned once again about Ferrari race strategy following another apparent error at the British Grand Prix . While Ferrari will be delighted that Carlos Sainz won the race, his first victory in Formula 1 , his team-mate Charles Leclerc appeared furious after the race at Silverstone . He finished fourth, but was leading the race until a late safety car bunched up the pack before a final sprint to the finish. There appeared to be time to call the Monegasque in for new tyres before he passed the entrance to the pit lane, but the team decided against it. But team-mate Sainz pitted for soft tyres, while Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton also came in for fresh rubber. And those three drivers all crossed the line ahead of Leclerc, despite his best efforts to hold onto a podium spot in what proved to be a thrilling finale. Zhou Guanyu slams into fence after suffering terrifying upside-down crash at British GP Carlos Sainz won a wild and wacky British Grand Prix which saw Zhou Guanyu survive a horror opening-lap crash and protesters invade the track at Silverstone . Sainz fought his way past Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc in a brilliant 10-lap shootout to the chequered flag following a safety car period to claim his maiden Formula One win. Sergio Perez finished second, with Lewis Hamilton third after he forced his way around Leclerc with four laps of the 52 laps remaining. A record crowd of 142,000 fans in Northamptonshire were treated to the race of the season which started in extraordinary fashion. Fan footage just yards away from shocking upside-down British GP crash emerges
An incredible fans’ view of Zhou Guanyu’s horrifying British Grand Prix smash has emerged on social media. The Chinese driver was involved in one of the most spectacular shunts in recent F1 history at Silverstone. Following a rapid getaway, Zhou was tagged by the slow-starting Mercedes of George Russell and immediately flipped upside-down. His Alfa Romeo then skated off the circuit and across the gravel trap at high speed. Just before he reached the tyre wall, the car dug in and flipped over, slamming bottom first into the security fence, just metres from shocked fans as marshals and photographers dived for cover. Footage of the crash was filmed by fans in the stand nearby and demonstrated how lucky he was to escape serious injury. Zhou was trapped in his car for several minutes, prompting fears he was seriously injured or worse.
