One of the most striking links with domestic abuse is animal cruelty . I’ve seen in court cases that abusers harm or threaten to harm a beloved pet in front of their partner and their children. It’s terrifying – and it couldn’t be a clearer example of coercive and controlling behaviour designed to intimidate victims to remain in, or be silenced about, their abusive relationship. Which brings me to the latest from the high-profile court case in the United States involving Amber Heard, Johnny Depp – and his dog . Heard recently gave evidence that Depp, “grabs this teacup yorkie and holds Boo out of the window of the moving car, and he’s howling like an animal while holding the dog out the window…And everyone in the car – I’ll never forget it – everyone just froze. No one did anything.” She added, “I didn’t want to react to cause him to drop the dog,” Heard said. I’ve seen this before. It goes like this – if you dare to step out of line, I have the power to slit … [Read more...] about There’s a reason Johnny Depp’s dog keeps coming up in the Amber Heard trial
Feel the fear
During lockdown I realised I wasn’t dealing with my body dysmorphia well – so I have made a change that helped
Prior to the coronavirus , I was at the peak of my newly adopted fitness journey. I was attending the gym regularly alongside a 9-to-5 unpaid work placement, and I felt good for it. Taking progress pictures, tracking my macros and treating myself on weekends had formed the basis of my new routine. But as someone who has struggled with body dysmorphia for almost eight years, lockdown has revealed to me that beneath the joy working out would give me, the deep-seated insecurities that have dominated a large part of my daily inner monologue had remained strong. As a teenager, my body was always something I was conscious of. I had always been physically active, as a member of a local rowing club from the age of 11 – training four days a week – and a swimmer before that. But it wasn’t until one of my best friends started to diet and skip meals, at 13 years of age, that I started to think deeper about the link between my physical appearance and my worth as a person, and … [Read more...] about During lockdown I realised I wasn’t dealing with my body dysmorphia well – so I have made a change that helped
Piers Morgan brands Amber Heard a liar after charity donation admission
Piers Morgan has weighed in on the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial, branding the actress a "liar" for her comments about donating $7 million to charity. Depp and Heard are currently embroiled in a $50 million defamation lawsuit after Heard wrote a 2018 op-ed stating she was a survivor of domestic violence. She never mentioned her ex-husband Depp by name but his legal team argue the insinuation has caused a massive loss of potential earnings. On Monday in court, Heard faced cross-examination from Depp's team who questioned her claim that she donated her $7 million divorce settlement to multiple charities. Attorney Camille Vasquez and Heard debated the use of the word "donated" as Heard suggested it was synonymous with the term "pledged." Sharing the exchange on Twitter to his 7.9 million followers, British TV host Morgan gave a damning assessment of Heard's testimony. "So Amber Heard's a liar," Morgan wrote, "and if she's lying about paying money to charity, why should … [Read more...] about Piers Morgan brands Amber Heard a liar after charity donation admission

Passenger who landed plane recounts “scariest” moments after pilot collapsed at controls
A Florida man with no flying experience who kept his cool while landing a small plane last week says "the hand of God" was with him after the pilot collapsed at the controls. Meanwhile, a doctor told NBC's "Today" show that the pilot has been released from the hospital, calling his recovery a "miracle." Darren Harrison told "Today" that he was relaxing with his feet up in the back of the single-engine Cessna after a fishing trip in the Bahamas when the pilot told him and another passenger: "Guys, I gotta tell you I don't feel good." "He said, 'I've got a headache and I'm fuzzy and I just don't feel right," the 39-year-old flooring salesman said. "And I said, 'What do we need to do?' and at that point he didn't respond at all." Harrison climbed into the cockpit and saw that the plane was diving, and fast. "All I saw when I came up to the front was water out the right window and I knew it was coming quick," he said. "At that point I knew if I didn't react, that we would … [Read more...] about Passenger who landed plane recounts “scariest” moments after pilot collapsed at controls

PR expert Lina Citreon discussed the Sussexes ’ lifestyle choices with Christina Garibaldi on the latest episode of Royally Us. Speaking on Royally Us, host Christina Garibaldi said: “They [ Harry and Meghan] are one of the most recognisable couples in the world but they also wanted to straddle that royal life. “You know, when they were told they couldn’t, they’re still using their HRH titles and things, so it seems like they’re still pushing the royal life but don’t really want to be associated with it either”. PR expert Lida said: “One of the things we’ve learnt is you sometimes don’t get to have it both ways. “When you think about royal life and pageantry of the institution, there’s lots of rules that come with that and there’s protocols and there’s rewards. “But celebrity also has rules and protocols and rewards, it … [Read more...] about Royal Family news- Prince Harry & Meghan ‘still pushing for royal life’ despite not wanting the ‘association’ with them
