AMAZON is set to open its first physical stores in the UK - and they won't have any checkouts. The online retailer will open the doors to its Amazon Go shops 'this week', after success in the US. The first shop will be located in Ealing in West London, the Mail on Sunday reports. There are no checkouts at Amazon Go stores, instead technology tracks the items you put in your basket. You're charged automatically when you leave via the Amazon Go app. The concept first launched in the US in 2018 and it was first reported last year that the shopping giant was eyeing as many as 30 locations in the UK for bricks and mortar stores . According to the newspaper report, staff are preparing to open the shop this week and there are coverings hiding the Amazon branded store front. Alexei Navalny: Putin critic begins sentence in Russian penal colony
Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has arrived in a penal colony about 100km (60 miles) east of Moscow to begin his sentence. Russia's RIA news agency said the jailed Kremlin critic was transferred from a detention centre in Moscow, citing a public commission that defends the rights of Russian prisoners. The name or exact location of the penal colony was not revealed. Alexander Kalashnikov, of Russia's federal penitentiary service (FSIN), told reporters: "According to the court's decision, he left to where he currently should be. Everything is done within the framework of the law and the current legislation." Mr Kalashnikov added Mr Navalny will be kept in "absolutely normal conditions". HUNGRY Uber Eats users have today been left fuming after the app crashed around the world. Brits have complained the app isn't loading for them, while the problem has also been reported in Australia and the US. Some have taken to social media to complain they can't get breakfast delivered to their door. One wrote: "Uber eats is down and I wanna cry I’m so hung over I just need maccies breakfast." Another said: "UBER EATS IS DOWN. Right when I’m about to order". One man tweeted from as far as Australia about the issue, saying: "Wonderful. apparently @UberEats is completely down in Perth."
