FLOODING victims in Hollywood can go along to an information session in the village soon. Residents can drop-in any time between 1pm and 7pm on October 2 at Hollywood Golf Club to find out progress on the investigation into the flooding. The flooding impacted on almost 300 properties following the deluge in May when 13cm of rain fell in just two hours. Villagers can help the investigation team by providing any relevant information and get advice if they still have any insurance or other problems. Coun Tony Miller, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for the environment, said: “The effects of the Hollywood floods are still being felt by residents even now and it’s important we all continue to work with them in any way we can to help them recover and look to the future.” The National Flood Forum had been a great support to all affected and was returning to provide further advice. US secret service agent dies after stroke during Trump visit to Scotland
A US secret service agent who suffered a stroke during President Trump’s visit to his Turnberry golf resort has died. The agent, a man with 19 years’ experience in the service, was in Scotland working on presidential protection when he fell ill on Sunday. He had been receiving “critical care” from medics in Scotland but died on Tuesday morning, surrounded by members of his immediate family. The US secret service confirmed the death “with great sadness and regret” in a statement and described the man as a “dedicated professional of the highest order”. It added: “The secret service thanks the medical personnel in Scotland, in addition to the members of the White House Medical Unit and Police Scotland who provided exceptional care and support for a member of our family.” The service has not released the man’s name to give his family privacy and time to inform others. Families find out about childcare support at fun day

Archant A fun day has been held in Locking Parklands to help families find out about childcare funding. The free event, held at the Radio Wing Community Centre, was organised by North Somerset Council’s early years and childcare service. It gave parents and carers the chance to get information on types of funded childcare available for three and four-year-olds, with many working families in England eligible for 30 hours. Youngsters were also entertained with activities including a magician, a forest school taster session, crafts and messy play. While children were kept busy their parents got to chat with experts from the council’s family information service, early years and funding finance teams, as well as representatives from Job Centre Plus and Home Start. New service in Retford will transport visitors back in time
A year after buying a building in Retford a new support centre for people living with dementia, anxiety, depression and mental illness is now up and running. The Time Machine can be found at the old Churchgate Surgery and St Johns Ambulance building, opposite the Cannon in Retford.Sally Brand, who has helped set up The Time Machine, said: “I have spent years as a trained nurse caring for people living with dementia, frailty and mental health challenges, so I decided to create a new kind of service designed to encourage cross-generational interaction and mutual support. “In June 2017 we bought the building opposite the Cannon in Retford and since then have been lovingly transforming it into a unique and specialist activity, education and family support centre. “Our family share a love of history and all things science fiction and so when we first looked around the building and found it to be genuinely bigger on the inside, it seemed only natural to call it The Time … [Read more...] about New service in Retford will transport visitors back in time
