Everton football club has cut ties with its Russian sponsors, including USM which is owned by oligarch Alisher Usmanov. The Merseyside club has also cut ties with Megafon, which is the second-largest mobile phone operator and the third-largest telecom operator in Russia and smartphone manufacturer Yota. Mr Usmanov, a Russian metals tycoon and former Arsenal co-owner, is among the oligarchs sanctioned by the EU and is also said to be on a list of people due to face sanctions by the US Treasury, the Washington Post reported. Timo Werner is set to return to RB Leipzig just two years after he left the Bundesliga side for Chelsea after the two clubs agreed a fee for the striker. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for much of the summer, and even expressed his desire to leave if he could not be guaranteed regular game time. Juventus had been keeping a close eye on the German international’s situation, but according to various sources, including Fabrizio Romano , Werner will leave Chelsea on a permanent transfer to Leipzig. Werner made his name at the Red Bull affiliated club, scoring 95 goals and making 40 assists in 159 games before moving to West London in 2020 for £47.5million. Ukraine says Air Force “defending sky” as Russia struggles to gain control
Ukraine's Air Force is "reliably" defending the sky against Russia, officials said, as Moscow continues to struggle to gain air superiority. "The Air Force reliably defends the Ukrainian sky and gives a worthy rebuff to the Russian aggressor in it," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a tweet early Sunday. "Thank you for your professionalism and dedication to the defense of Ukraine!" On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also released a video to celebrate Air Force of Ukraine Day.
