LONDON Underground maintenance and engineering workers were poised to go out on strike during the FA Cup Final weekend but it has now been called off. We look at why the industrial action has been cancelled. When was the strike called off? On May 14, 2019, the union said it suspended the action after LU called off plans to cut train inspections and preparations. Transport for London (TfL) confirmed it had withdrawn its initial proposals. A TfL spokesman added: "The safety of our staff and customers is always paramount. Tonight's BBC debate was the final clash between Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson before the election on December 12. So it's only natural that pollsters YouGov ran a snap poll of viewers on who they thought won. As you could probably have guessed, the result sums up the utter stasis of our politics in the most depressing way possible. Excluding don't knows, Johnson won 52% of viewers' votes while Corbyn won 48% - the same split as the Brexit/Remain vote three and a half years ago. YouGov said that, as this falls within the margin of error, it can be considered another draw. 55% said Johnson was more likeable compared to 36% for Corbyn. 62% said Johnson performed better on Brexit with 29% picking Corbyn. And 55% said Johnson was better on security compared to 34% on Corbyn. But there was a major upside for Labour backers as 48% said Corbyn came across as more trustworthy - compared to just 38% backing Johnson.
