So if we didn't get it before, we definitely do now: exercise should be a vitally important facet of our everyday lives. Only once Meghan has merged from the post birth fog, will she discover quite what a good move she has made to Windsor. She might be sleep deprived and sore and living in a building site but within a few miles of Frogmore, her newly renovated “forever home” is everything a new mother could need from organic supermarkets and luxury spas to Buggy Fit classes and cafes serving proper coffee. “New mums want to stay in touch with reality and get back into their favourite dresses and round here there are loads of stylish, outdoorsy ways of doing it,” explains Sue Barnes of Lavender Green Flowers, a Windsor local who regularly does the flowers at events at the Royal palaces. Plus, Heathrow is only a short drive away – easy for when granny Doria flies in to help and, in case of emergencies, the Peter Jones nursery department is only 22 miles up the M4. There will presumably be times when Meghan will crave the bustle of city life but Barnes insists Windsor is … [Read more...] about Growing up in Windsor: what will life be like for baby Sussex?
Arthritis sufferers can stave off disability with less than half of the weekly recommended exercise, a new study has shown. Even a brisk, short walk of less than 10 minutes a day is enough to keep older adults on their feet, reducing the risk of becoming disabled by 85 per cent. Currently the NHS recommends that adults get two and a half hours of moderate exercise each week - around 21 minutes a day, but many people feel unable to meet the target, and so do nothing. The new research from Northwestern University, in Illinois, followed 1,500 adults for four years all who were suffering pain, aching of stiffness from arthritis in their knees, hips, ankles or feet, but who were not disabled at the beginning of the study. Their physical activity was monitored during the period using accelerometers. Four years after the start of the study, 24 per cent of adults who did not get the weekly hour of brisk physical activity were walking too slowly to safely cross the street, and 23 per cent … [Read more...] about Exercising for 10 minutes-a-day is enough to save off disability from arthritis
Kim Kardashian and the rest of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians tribe are all no strangers to showing off their bodies. However, looking back at Kim at the start of her reality TV career, it's fair to say she's changed quite a bit. Flashing back to 2008, when she was merely Paris Hilton's sidekick, Kim's figure is certainly far less curvaceous. Whereas now, she flaunts an extremely ample trademark derriere, which just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. But is her figure the result of plastic surgery or just a rigorous gym regime? While Kim's body has been a hot topic for years, it first sparked national conversation after she dropped a huge amount of weight following the birth of her first daughter North in 2012. "After five months I swore I’d never get pregnant again. I got so huge and it felt like someone had taken over my body," she recalled years later. "I had a really bad pregnancy and I gained a lot of weight and I did not feel good about myself. I felt probably … [Read more...] about Kim Kardashian’s changing body – from ‘injected bum’ to shrinking waist

The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) says those with the condition can often be scared about breaking bones when they exercise and end up cutting back on physical activity. The organisation has now developed online videos and guides to help those with osteoporosis learn about the importance of activity in promoting bone strength, reducing the risk of falls and managing symptoms. Working with a range of experts, it has produced a new “consensus statement” for healthcare and exercise professional, stressing that people with osteoporosis should be encouraged to do more activity, rather than less, and that exercise is not associated with significant harm. While “some caution is advised, the benefits of physical activity and exercise outweigh the … [Read more...] about Charity stresses power of exercise for osteoporosis sufferers
