Charlie Nunn said Lloyds had seen customers seeking debt advice jump up by a third in just the first six months of this year. Credit card spending on travel was up 300% on last year, but the majority of Lloyd's customers were worried about the cost of living, he said. It was possible for the UK to avoid the recession many are predicting, he said. It comes as UK households struggle with the soaring cost of food, energy bills and fuel as inflation rises at the fastest rate in 40 years. Putin stages drills with Yars nuclear missiles capable of reaching UK
Vladimir Putin has staged drills with his road-launched Yars nuclear missiles in a forest in western Siberia. Their 7,500-mile range means they are capable of striking the UK or anywhere in Europe. The tests come amid high tension with the West over the war in Ukraine , and against the backdrop of near-daily threats by Putin’s propagandists to deploy atomic weapons. Diplomats are normally protected from both criminal charges and civil cases in the countries where they are posted. But the court found a Saudi diplomat accused of exploiting a Filipina domestic worker in London did not have immunity in relation to the allegation. The decision paves the way for the woman to seek compensation. Lawyers said it was the first ruling of its kind in the world. The case was brought by Josephine Wong, 30, who alleges she was forced to work for Khalid Basfar and his family in conditions of modern slavery.
