A disabled man is having to sell his late wife’s possession in order to keep his head above water as inflation bites. Jason Alcock said he is struggling to make ends meet amid the cost of living crisis hitting people up and down the country. The 51-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent lives with autism, ADHD and bipolar disorder, conditions which make finding work extremely difficult. With the price of everyday goods  rising at levels unmatched in 40 years, he is faced with making heartbreaking decisions to pay the bills. His wife Paola died in 2018 after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Jason has resorted to raising funds from treasured items she left behind to stay afloat. A top Russian ice hockey star poised to play in the US is to be ‘forced instead into Vladimir Putin’s army’ which is at war in Ukraine . Ivan Fedotov, 25, was rushed to an army enlistment office after being dramatically held by a squad of uniformed and plain-clothed police officers in St Petersburg. The head of the Army today says the UK must be ready for war with Russia. Four months on from Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, General Sir Patrick Sanders is set to compare the assault to the rise of Nazi Germany . He will say that Britain is facing its "1937 moment" and must be ready to "fight and win" to ward off the threat from Russia. In his first public speech as Chief of the General Staff , Sir Patrick will say the UK must be prepared to "act rapidly" to contain Russian expansionism. Nato last night pledged to massively increase its forces available on high alert to more than 300,000 troops, a more-than seven-fold increase. The Shining actor Joe Turkel has died at the age of 94. Turkel was best known for playing the bartender in the horror/mystery series, as well as his role in Blade Runner. His representatives confirmed the sad news of his death, stating that he died at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica. They shared that they are ‘so sad’ to share that their ‘great friend and client Joe Turkel has passed away’. Chris Carbaugh told People. ‘Joe was a lightning bolt and he was very passionate to talk about films, baseball and life. Every time we spoke he was quick to crack a bad joke and make me laugh.’ Carbaugh added: ‘He was very proud of being the only actor to do three Stanley Kubrick films and loved to share his experiences with family, friends and fans’. Margot Robbie was full of smiles as she remained busy at work on the live-action Barbie movie on Saturday, her 32nd birthday. Congratulations are in order after Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden finally tied the knot with her fiancé Ben Jones. The couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Wales on Saturday, according to Hello! magazine . After two delays due to the pandemic, Amy and Ben were able to exchange vows at a five-star venue on Wales’ Gower Peninsula.
