As the debate over the future EU budget intensifies in the European Parliament, more questions are being asked about the funds allocated to border security, migration and refugee integration. EURACTIV.ro reports. The overall reaction of the EU and national capitals to the humanitarian crisis in 2015 has been widely criticised, with many voices asking for more resources to be directed towards improving reception facilities and integration programmes. The general circumstances, however, were not at all favourable to the reception of refugees. In a Union that already struggled with internal mobility, particularly from east to west, the refugee situation only managed to exacerbate an already tense situation. Who are Leave.EU and what are they supposed to have done wrong? Who are Leave.EU? Leave.EU was the campaign linked with Ukip leader Nigel Farage. Set up by businessman Arron Banks and property developer Richard Tice, it lost out to the rival Vote Leave group in the race to be designated lead campaigner in the referendum. What is a lead campaigner? In April 2016 – two months before the referendum vote – the Electoral Commission designated a lead campaign group on each side. 0 Have your say Nursing leaders have expressed “major concern” as rising numbers of nurses from the EU continue to leave the UK. New figures from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - which maintains a register of nurses practising in the UK as part of its regulatory duties - show a significant rise in the number of nurses from Europe leaving the British register and a plummeting number applying to join.The NMC said in 2017/18, 3,962 nurses from the EU left the register, an increase of 29% from the previous year.The number of nurses from the European Economic Area (EEA) who have left Britain has been steadily increasing from 2013/14.Meanwhile the number of European nurses who joined the register in 2017/18 dropped by 87% compared with the previous year, according to a new report from the NMC.In the last financial year, 805 EU nurses and midwives joined the register compared with 6,382 the year before.READ MORE: Sturgeon rejects Brexit billA survey of 227 … [Read more...] about ‘Major concern’ over EU nurses leaving the UK
