A man has managed to escape police custody by pretending he was about to vomit. Michael Luke Robertson got away while being moved from a patrol car into the Avondale police station in west Auckland on Tuesday. Police tried to chase the 28-year-old after he fled, but they couldn't catch him. He was last seen running down a driveway on Great North Rd. He is the fifth man to escape from the police in three weeks. Auckland city commander Superintendent Karyn Malthus said two officers were taking Robertson into the station when he fled. "He feigned that he was about to vomit, he'd been complaining of feeling ill. As he moved off to pretend to vomit he managed to scale a wall and run off." Ms Malthus said having two officers escorting him should have been sufficient, and she was disappointed that this had happened. "We will be undertaking a review of that situation and the police officers involved are quite gutted by this incident. "They come to work every day to do their very, very best and … [Read more...] about Man flees police after pretending to vomit

You can understand why Leroy Sane might be tempted to swap Manchester City for Bayern Munich. The attacker's international teammates have been doing their best to publicly encourage the 23-year-old to make the move and you can just imagine the messages that have been going back and forth privately. Sane's relationship with Pep Guardiola hasn't been plain sailing but the Germany international only needs to look at his teammate Raheem Sterling to know that he can turn his situation at the club around. The 23-year-old was believed to be considering his options after being disgruntled at his lack of Premier League appearances having made six less starts in the league last season compared to the campaign before. WASHINGTON – In a case with significant First Amendment implications, the U.S. filed new charges Thursday against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, accusing him of violating the Espionage Act by publishing secret documents containing the names of confidential military and diplomatic sources. The Justice Department's 18-count superseding indictment alleges that Assange directed former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning in one of the largest compromises of classified information in U.S. history. It says the WikiLeaks founder, currently in custody in London, damaged national security by publishing documents that harmed the U.S. and its allies and aided its adversaries. The case comes amid a Justice Department crackdown on national security leaks and raised immediate fear among news media advocates that Assange's actions – including soliciting and publishing classified information – are indistinguishable from what traditional journalists do on a daily basis. Those … [Read more...] about U.S. charges WikiLeaks founder with publishing classified info
