Not a single police officer has been held accountable for a string of blunders that allowed ruthless grooming gangs to traffic, abuse and rape more than 1,400 girls during Britain’s biggest child abuse scandal , a damning report has revealed. South Yorkshire Police (SYP) has admitted failing to protect vulnerable children in Rotherham who were targeted between 1997 and 2013 by gangs of largely Pakistani men. An eight-year investigation and report by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) identified examples of officers turning a blind eye or ignoring the plight of girls as young as 11. In one case, they failed to investigate an older man who was found undressed in a bedroom with one of his victims. Adele is gearing up for her epic performances at BST Hyde Park this weekend , as she was snapped rehearsing ahead of the big shows. The Easy On Me hitmaker is clearly making sure her voice is top-top, as she rehearsed sat crossed-legged on a chair, with a tea beside her. Donning casual clothes, she still looked to be giving some moves, as she threw an arm in the air during what looks to be a particularly high note. Adele’s backing singers also got involved, and looked to be deep in concentration as they prepared for the show. ‘Who’s ready for tomorrow!?’ she captioned the photos on Instagram. Adele, 34, will take to Hyde Park on Friday and Saturday , for a pair of special shows. A man who failed to file GST and tax returns for years has been sentenced to six months' home detention. Brian Gregory Steele was sentenced in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday to two representative charges of failing to file GST returns and failing to file income tax returns. Judge Lance Rowe said Steele registered a computing business in June 2010. "You filed the first five GST returns but did not file any further returns until after the commissioner did an audit." He also failed to file income tax returns from 2012 until 2016. His company was struck off in 2016, but he continued to issue invoices to clients, first in the business name and then in his own name. In a meeting in 2017 with Inland Revenue, he admitted things had got out of hand and asked a tax agent to file all outstanding returns. Steele ended up with about $350,000 worth of unpaid GST and income tax. Federal investigators late last year attempted to illegally purchase firearms online after congressional members asked them to assess how well the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was doing with the enforcement of existing laws. The findings were stunning. Investigators with the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) were dispatched to see whether private online sellers were engaging in selling firearms to people who are prohibited from owning firearms. The investigators attempted dozens of times to illegally purchase firearms from online sellers on the “surface web” (i.e. not the dark web), but were completely unsuccessful — going 0 for 72. The GB National Tennis Academy in Stirling, set up following the success of Sir Andy Murray and brother Jamie, is being shut down just three years after it opened.
