Royal family’s reactions to Bishop Michael Curry’s show stealing appearance
I think we can all agree Reverend Michael Curry absolutely stole the show at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ’s wedding by delivering a show stopping sermon. The bishop’s words rose in a passionate crescendo as he spoke of the link between love and the divine, his style a stark contrast to the sober delivery of the Archbishop of Canterbury, who was officiating. For the Royal Family, the animated performance would be a departure from the type of sermons they normally see at church services. At times several of the congregation could be seen smiling and exchanging glances. Even Harry got the giggles. Zara Tindall gave ‘massive side eye’ and reached for her bible, while Mike couldn’t tear his eyes away. #RoyalWedding pic.twitter.com/ON8Al3tEMa — Jonathon (@JonathonRabbit) May 19, 2018 The Queen and Prince Phillip looked bemused. Kate couldn’t keep a straight face. Prince Charles and Camilla were trying to figure out what was happening. … [Read more...] about Royal family’s reactions to Bishop Michael Curry’s show stealing appearance
Prince Harry mouths ‘you look amazing’ to Meghan Markle as they meet at altar
The first words Prince Harry said to his bride Meghan Markle as they met at the altar were ‘you look amazing’. Meghan, who will become an HRH and the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Harry, looked radiant and smiled as she replied with ‘thank you’. Harry, who is now the Duke of Sussex after being given the title by the Queen in the morning, looked slightly nervous as he waited patiently at the altar in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. He was dressed in his smart frockcoat uniform of the Blues and Royals, and flanked by his best man and older brother the Duke of Cambridge. Michael Fabricant jokes about rape allegation against fellow Tory MP Meghan made her entrance in a stunning wedding gown by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, giving the world its first proper look at the dress as she stepped from her vintage Rolls-Royce Phantom IV. The gown, with open bateau neckline and sculpted waist, was described by Kensington Palace as ‘epitomising a timeless … [Read more...] about Prince Harry mouths ‘you look amazing’ to Meghan Markle as they meet at altar
UK weather for the Jubilee weekend: Sunshine and warm conditions forecast for four-day bank holiday
With the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend fast approaching, many are wondering what the weather will be like as the nation begins planning street parties and celebrations. The four-day bank holiday weekend kicks off at 10am on Thursday 2 June with a special jubilee edition of the traditional Trooping The Colour parade in central London. While it is premature to make an official prediction, the weather for the weekend is looking promising with lots of sunshine forecast. Sky News' weather producer Kirsty McCabe said: "At the moment it looks as though the weather will turn drier and increasingly settled as we head towards the end of May with high pressure becoming the dominant feature into the first week of June. "That means we can expect largely dry, settled and warm conditions with a royally good amount of sunshine for the Jubilee weekend." Tube strike action announced for Platinum Jubilee weekend as staff to walk out of two key stations
Strike action has been announced on the London Underground during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, with staff to walk out of two key stations. Tube staff in the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) have voted to walk out of Euston and Green Park stations on Friday, 3 June, amid claims of a toxic work environment created by a "bullying manager". Strikes will last the entire day and will affect Victoria, Jubilee, and Piccadilly line services at both stations. However, Transport for London has said it expects to keep both stations open during the action. The two stations will be key for those attending celebrations near Buckingham Palace, with the capital expecting a huge influx of tourists as Her Majesty celebrates 70 years on the throne. Advertisement The union has said the dispute could be resolved if Transport for London takes action against the manager. City regulator to get new powers to protect public’s access to cash
The financial services regulator is to be given new powers to protect access to cash, the government has confirmed. Banks and building societies will be subject to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) powers to help ensure financial inclusion. In the Queen's Speech last week, the government promised that access to cash would be protected through the Financial Services and Markets Bill. The government has confirmed that the FCA's new power to ensure communities have cash withdrawal and deposit facilities will feature in the legislation.
