Members of France's leading farmer's unions, the FNSEA and Jeunes Agriculteurs (Young Farmers) union called on their members to occupy 14 oil refineries and fuel depots run by French multinational oil and gas company Total for three days. The occupation, which began on Sunday night, is taking place at oil refineries in Lyon, Gonfreville-l'Orcher, Le Havre, Grandpuits (Seine-et-Marne), La Mède (Bouches-du-Rhone), as well as the oil depots at the port of Rhone Edouard Herriot, the port of the Rhine, Vatry (Marne), Lespinasse near Toulouse, Coignières (Yvelines) and Cournon in Puy-de-Dôme. Farmers also planned to prevent access to oil refineries at Dunkirk (North), Grigny (Essonne), Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine) and one in Donges (Loire-Atlantique). The pickets of 13 refineries and depots, organised by two major farming unions, are to start on Sunday night and last until Wednesday at least and could go on longer. The FNSEA and Jeunes Agriculteurs unions, many of whose members are large-scale farmers, said this weekend they expected about 100 farmers to join each one, with tractors and barbecues. France has a total of seven refineries and 200 depots, so the country's fuel supply will not be completely cut off, but a picket at the Paris region's main depot at Grigny may stop supplies most of the Ile de France's depots. KazMunaiGaz is developing a feasibility study for the refinery, which should be completed by the end of the second quarter of this year, according to the Kazakh Energy Ministry. After the scale of the project is determined, a decision on the location of the plant will be made. In order to conduct the tests, Ogra and HDIP took samples of domestically produced and imported gasoline (petrol) which showed the application of chemicals to give a boost to the quality of Research Octane Number (RON) 90 and 92 gasoline to save cost.
