He held talks with the Senegalese striker back then but was pipped for his signature by Belgians Lokeren. Things did not work out for Mendy there and now Neil is delighted to have been able to get a player he believes can score regularly in the top flight. He said: “We tried to get him in January and I think we missed out by just a couple of hours. He agreed to join Lokeren. “We kept an eye on him and we thought he’d do well here. He’s got a good goal record previous to Lokeren – it didn’t quite happen for him there. “I believe he is a player who is a bit different to who we’ve got. He’s a good age, good experience and scored goals. “He’s the type of striker … [Read more...] about New boy Mendy almost signed by Dundee in January

The 22-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Scottish Premiership rivals but the Tele understands a number of English clubs are chasing his signature. Motherwell had registered an interest back in January and, with his current contract coming to an end this summer, the online rumour mill had linked him with a switch to St Mirren. There’s nothing in that, however, and a move to English League One is on the cards with his size and athleticism a key attribute for English scouts. In two seasons at Dundee, where the former Kilmarnock right-back was converted to an attacking midfielder, O’Hara knocked in 11 goals in 71 appearances. Sport / Dundee FC by George Cran May 2, 2018, 10:00 am FacebookTwitterLinkedInWhatsAppEmail Sign up to our Sport newsletter Dundee are facing an anxious wait to see if top scorer Sofien Moussa will be fit for the crunch match against Hamilton this weekend. Fresh from two goals against St Johnstone the week previous, the Tunisian only lasted four minutes of the defeat at Motherwell on Saturday. The Dens gaffer revealed his targetman had been carrying a calf injury into the game and, after giving away a free-kick in the centre of the pitch, that gamble proved costly early on with A-Jay Leitch-Smith replacing him. How severe the problem is and how long he’ll be out isn’t yet clear but it will mean a change of plan for the manager. He said: “We worked on something all week and Moussa went off early. “He was carrying it but felt it was OK and we felt it was OK but it’s obviously just gone on him. “We had to change things and it took … [Read more...] about Dundee in anxious wait on injured top scorer Sofien Moussa

An investigation has shown that in some cases, several years have passed between people accused of crimes first appearing at Dundee Sheriff Court and being sentenced. One person charged with assault made their first court appearance in September 2012, but the case was ultimately discontinued in November 2016. In another case, a shoplifter was sentenced to five months in jail — three years after their first appearance. The figures were provided to the Tele by the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service (SCTS) following a freedom of information request. In each of these cases, arrest warrants were granted when the accused failed to appear at court.
