Protest planned along threatened Dumfries to Edinburgh bus route

July 5, 2022 by www.bbc.co.uk

Published 1 hour ago Share close Share page Copy link About sharing A protest is being planned along the route of a bus service due to be discontinued in about six weeks' time. Campaigners say the Dumfries to Edinburgh service is a "vital link" for the communities it serves. They intend to stage a protest at a number of stops along the route to try to avoid it being taken away. The councils involved in funding the service are in discussions and have said they are committed to finding a solution. The 101/102 service runs between south west Scotland and the capital, and serves a number of towns and villages including West Linton, Biggar and Moffat. The current contract with Stagecoach West Scotland ends on 13 August. A new deal has not been awarded which has been blamed on a sharp rise in the proposed costs of running the service. An online petition has gathered … [Read more...] about Protest planned along threatened Dumfries to Edinburgh bus route

Queen baffled by school girl on scooter in hilarious resurfaced video

July 5, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

A bizarre clip from an old royal visit showing Queen Elizabeth II watching an elementary school pupil ride a scooter on her belly in apparent bemusement has resurfaced and gone viral. Video newly posted to Instagram appeared to come from Elizabeth's June 2017 visit to Mayflower Primary School, in Tower Hamlets, East London, alongside Prince Philip. The occasion had a poignant backdrop as it was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the bombing of the school during World War I, when it was known as Upper North Street School. However, it contained a number of awkward moments, including when the queen found herself watching a school girl pull herself along with her hands while lying flat on a scooter. An Instagram reel of the footage garnered 224k likes with users commenting on the perplexed look on the then 91-year-old's face. A caption on one version of the videos, by account thehouseofwindsorr, read: "The Queen has no idea what's going on." Prince Harry: I see my mother’s legacy when I look at my own children

July 1, 2022 by www.telegraph.co.uk

The Duke of Sussex has described how he sees his late mother’s legacy when he looks at his own two children every day. He revealed that not a day goes by when he does not think about the mark Diana, Princess of Wales , left on both him and his brother, the Duke of Cambridge. “My mother instilled in me a drive to speak up and fight for a better world,” he said. “And now, as a husband and parent, my mother’s voice is even stronger in my life.” The Duke, 37, recorded a video message to open this year’s Diana Award ceremony, which took place virtually on what would have been the Princess’s 61st birthday, marking the 25th anniversary of her death. He said it was a “special year” and one in which he hoped people would take extra time to “not just remember how she lived but to reflect on the life she continues to lead through so many”. The award is the only charity bearing the Princess’s name and honours young people aged nine to 25 who work to improve the lives of others. ‘My … [Read more...] about Prince Harry: I see my mother’s legacy when I look at my own children

Uneasy truce as Prince Harry and Meghan keep schtum over bullying report

June 30, 2022 by www.telegraph.co.uk

Buckingham Palace and the Sussexes appear to have called a public truce over a controversial bullying report, after its contents were kept secret from the public . The Palace has blocked details of a report into the handling of bullying allegations made against the Duchess of Sussex in 2018, with its limited findings kept hidden from even those who contributed. In response, the Duke and Duchess will make no public comment on the unresolved allegations, despite previously authorising the strongest of statements defending Meghan. The unusual silence on either side has led to speculation that the Palace and Sussexes, who work closely with their lawyers, are both moving to downplay the long-running dispute . Both sides are understood to be hopeful of drawing a line under the episode. Those involved in the review, said to be around half a dozen one-time members of staff, have so far remained tight-lipped about the details of the Duchess’ alleged behaviour in 2018. 'We will … [Read more...] about Uneasy truce as Prince Harry and Meghan keep schtum over bullying report

March 14, 2021 by www.dailystar.co.uk

Meghan Markle's alleged bullying of royal staff is to be independently investigated, it has been reported. A team of third-party lawyers will look into the allegations made against the Duchess of Sussex by current and former royal aides, inside sources have claimed. It was initially announced an internal probe would be launched to review the claims in the wake of her and husband Prince Harry 's tell-all interview with US chat show icon Oprah Winfrey . The explosive two-hour TV special premiered in the US last Sunday. It aired in the UK the following day. And while the shocking allegations looks set to increase the rift between the couple and the Royal Family , a source warned "the actual worst incidences haven't come out," according to The Times.
