UK government enters endgame in Europe research standoff

It has written to Brussels urging it to "end persistent delays" in delivering on its promise to allow British access to EU research collaborations. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss accused the European Commission of politicising scientific co-operation. Some experts say the move is the start of UK withdrawal from the programme. Prof James Wilsdon the director of the Research on Research Institute at Sheffield University told BBC News that he believes that there will be no resolution, at which point the new prime minister will instead announce the UK's own international research programme - known as Plan B. Hillsborough: Huntsman Jack Harris fined after attacks by foxhounds

Lisburn Magistrates' Court heard that Jack Harris was the huntsman employed by Iveagh Hunt Club in November 2020 when the incidents happened. He was convicted on two counts of being the keeper of a dog which attacked. Thirty-year-old Harris, who has an address in England and did not appear before the court, was ordered to pay court costs of £1,200. The hunt, which consisted of up to 40 dogs, took place in the Hillsborough area. A prosecution lawyer told the court the hunt was trespassing on land belonging to a number of different individuals at the time of the attacks.
