She wants the money to go to the aid group Global Partnership for Education, which she is ambassador for. A Bishop's Stortford charity's cafe has been saved from closure thanks to the support of a local businessman. Thirst Cafe, which is funded by Grove Cottage, will now stay open due to the support of David Warburton, resident and managing director and principal of The Marshgate Group. Due to his donation, Thirst Cafe, located on South Street in Bishop's Stortford, will reopen in September. The cafe is partly staffed by young adults with learning difficulties and provides an environment for them to develop their skills and meet new people. Mr Warburton said: “I grew up and went to school in Bishop's Stortford and, as a father, I can appreciate what the cafe means to its members and the wider community as a whole. "I am delighted to be able to support this charity which has been an integral part of the town since 1966. Cruel thieves have stolen nappies and sanitary products worth more than £2,500 due to be distributed to help vulnerable women and families. Supermarket chain Aldi donated a lorry-load of products to a council scheme in Salford designed to help residents in need of emergency supplies and ease pressure on food banks. All the goods were taken however by burglars who broke into a storage unit in Lower Broughton . Outraged council bosses said the unit on Mocha Parade was completely ‘cleaned out’ and slammed those behind the theft as ‘despicable’. An appeal has been issued amid fears the goods could be offered for sale on the black market as police investigate. Salford council revealed the same thieves also attempted to break in to a food bank located next to the unit, but couldn’t force their way inside. Park runners gave generously when a Northampton charity held a collection drive for cancer patients.
