Kevin Johnson USA TODAY Published 11:46 PM EST Feb 4, 2019 WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee confirmed Monday that it had received a subpoena from federal prosecutors in New York as part of an investigation into the group’s fundraising activities. “While we are still reviewing the subpoena, it is our intention to cooperate with the inquiry,” the committee said in a statement. Owen Blicksilver, a committee spokesman, declined to elaborate on the scope of the government’s request. The investigation is being led by prosecutors from the Southern District of New York in Manhattan, and represents potentially more legal trouble for the Trump administration as it continues to confront the ongoing inquiry into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and other spinoff investigations. Michelle Obama says "stopped even trying to smile" at Donald Trump's inauguration, revealing how unhappy she was over his election as US president. Obama and her husband, outgoing president Barack Obama, had a front-row seat as the business mogul was sworn in on January 20, 2017. In her new memoir, Becoming, the former first lady describes what was going through her mind months on from Trump's astonishing ascent to the White House. She revealed that she was left wondering why so many women rejected "an exceptionally qualified female candidate" in Hillary Clinton and chose a "misogynist" as their president. In an excerpt obtained by ABC News ahead of the book's release, Obama, 54, wrote: "The vibrant diversity of the two previous inaugurations was gone... "Someone from Barack’s administration might have said that the optics there were bad - that what the public saw didn’t reflect the president’s reality or ideals. "But in this case, maybe it did.
