For months they have been arguing that everything will be okay in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit – we will simply trade under WTO rules. And then comes along the leader of the world’s largest economy and says he wants out of that organisation, threatening its existence, or at least its position as the undisputed arbiter of global trade. But then another thought springs to mind, with even more severe repercussions for the world: Donald Trump is becoming predictable. We have seen it with North Korea, steel and aluminium tariffs, the UN, you can sense it with Iran and it wouldn’t surprise me if it eventually happens with climate change as well. … [Read more...] about Donald Trump’s WTO threat shows he is becoming predictable
Donald trump how much money does he have
THE President of the United States is the world's most colourful and publicised billionaire. Here's the lowdown on all things Donald Trump. Where did Donald Trump grow up and was his family wealthy? Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946, the fourth child of real estate tycoon Fred Trump. The Trump family was wealthy and lived in a mansion in the Queens area of New York. As a 13-year-old, Donald was sent to a military academy after he started misbehaving at school. Now 71, he boasts that he made money "the good old-fashioned way" but he first got into real estate with a "small" $1million loan from his father and helped manage the family's housing portfolio in the New York area. He took control of the company in 1971 and renamed it the Trump Organisation - shifting from residential sales in Brooklyn and Queens to swanky projects in Manhattan. “So, have ya Brexited yet?” Blunt, folksy and utterly unconventional, the question down the phone line to Theresa May was pure Trump. As an icebreaker, it is hardly an easy opener for a woman whose entire premiership has been created, and dominated by, the UK leaving the European Union. More than two years after the British public narrowly voted to quit the EU, the country still hasn’t “Brexited”. May’s latest plan for a continued close relationship with the 27 other nations in the bloc has caused resignations and rebellion within her own party. In many ways, Trump was simply asking a question Leave voters themselves have asked many times. But US Presidents don’t usually use a transatlantic phone call on an encrypted line to ask a question that the Prime Minister could hear in any pub. And what’s just as surprising is that Trump has used this opening line not just once, but several times since he entered the White House. … [Read more...] about What’s It Like To Be In The Room With Donald Trump? How the FBI managed to turn Donald Trump into a victim I do not know, but it seems they have done precisely that. Actually, I do know how they’ve done it. They’ve done it by losing any sense of proportion and raiding the office of President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, in full gangbusters style. It’s as if the lawyer’s offices were harbouring some Isis operatives intent on a terror attack, or maybe some vicious narco cartel boss. Of course, Cohen’s premises were only a safe refuge of sorts for the details of the president’s relationship (or not) with Stormy Daniels. Ostensibly, this is because of an acknowledged payment apparently made by Cohen personally to the former adult film actor (real name Stephanie Clifford), which in turn is connected with a sexual relationship (or not) between the two.
