APPARENTLY, we're living in a "post-food era". And part of this weird new world means chowing down on high-protein health drinks that can completely replace solid food while boasting the full range of vital vitamins and minerals. Soylent, a liquid meal replacement, has gone on sale in Britain for the first time. The "complete meal" claims to be suitable for everyone, with each 100 per cent vegan bottle offering 20 per cent of your daily nutrition and protein. It's main ingredient - apart from water - is genetically modified soya. The company says that it uses soy because of its "bioavailability (i.e. it’s easily absorbed by the digestive system) and because soy takes fewer resources to produce than other proteins. Additionally, soy protein isolate’s smooth texture creates an optimal flavour profile". When it comes to losing weight it seems to be all about diet and exercise.It's obvious that exercise is key to any weight loss regimes as it helps you burn calories and more calories burned means a greater weight loss. But what if you hate exercise? According to nutritional therapist Petronella Ravenshear, no: "Contrary to the popular notion that we need to exercise to lose weight it’s simply not true." Plenty of studies have backed up Ravenshear’s opinion.
