This year’s awards take place at the Mansion House in Dublin on May 29 and it will be hosted by RTÉ’s Bryan Dobson. Local businesses are the backbone of the Irish economy and they provide a vital function in communities throughout Ireland. One way for local enterprises to have their achievements and contribution recognised is through the National Enterprise Awards. BY PRISCILLA HARRY Gold Coast Commonwealth Games weightlifting gold medalist Steven Kari, Muay Thai martial artist Lee Garap and PNG Barramundis batsman Tony Ura were among the finalists named in the male athlete of the year category at the Brewkettle in Port Moresby yesterday. The finalists in the female athlete of the year category are PNG Lewas Brenda Tau (cricket), Abigail Tere-Apisah (lawn tennis) and Dika Toua (weightlifting). Three finalists for each of the 11 categories were selected from a pool of nominations that came from all over the country.
