A £45 MILLION plan to create new ‘enterprise zones’ in West Yorkshire, including one in Calderdale, will be discussed this week. Motorists travelling south on the M6 are suffering severe delays due to the motorway being closed after an accident involving 10 vehicles. The incident happened shortly after 10am between the southbound junctions 19 (Knutsford) and 18 (Holmes Chapel) of the motorway. All of the traffic trapped has been cleared however more than seven miles of traffic is still approaching the junction 19 which is closedHighways England tweeted: "Trapped traffic has now all cleared from within the closure. Clear-up works continue, and we now have gritters at scene to assist with this. The carriageway remains closed at J19, with nearly 7 miles of slow moving traffic on approach to the closure."Two of the drivers involved in the collision have suffered minor injuries. The crash involved a number of vehicles including a car transporter, a double decker bus and a number of HGVs. Plans for a new business park and 150 houses near Belper have been kicked out after a public inquiry – the scheme would have created more than 650 jobs. The controversial development, put forward by Peveril Homes Ltd and Vaillant Group UK Ltd, would have been built in fields off Nottingham Road – on land known locally as Bullsmoor.Plans for the site, 23 acres to the rear of the firm’s existing factory, at which domestic boilers are made, came before the Amber Valley Borough Council planning board in November.The scheme was divided into two applications, one for 150 houses and a factory extension, and the other for the business park.It faced fierce opposition from the public and Mid-Derbyshire MP Pauline Latham due to its location within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Buffer Zone.
