Meghan wore the pearl and diamond studs on her first joint engagement with the monarch. It is not known when exactly the royal matriarch gave the jewellery to the American former actress, who married the Queen’s grandson, Prince Harry, last month. Meghan and the Queen had travelled to Cheshire overnight on the Royal Train. Buckingham Palace confirmed the earrings were a present from the Queen. It is not known if they were from her personal collection or a new purchase. Weeks after sustainable and lab-grown gemstones lit up the red carpets at Cannes Film Festival, the ‘created diamonds’ industry has received another boost with the launch of Lightbox: a new ‘demi-fine’ jewellery brand by De Beers. Launching in the US later this year, Lightbox is targeting a millennial audience with everyday studs and pendants featuring lab-grown white, blue and pink diamonds. A MUM has slammed her son's school after he was punished for wearing a diamond-and-gold ear stud while his headteacher is allowed to wear hers. Sarah Yates was outraged when Nova Hreod Academy, in Wiltshire, said Tyler Ellis, 12, was placed in isolation because of his ear piercing. She's baffled as to why the earring has suddenly become an issue because she claims Tyler has worn the stud since he started school in September. Sarah was left horrified as she claims girls get away with wearing "too much make-up and skirts that are too short". She said: "The headteacher has gold studs with diamonds in...it's hypocrisy. He has uniform inspections every day and no-one said anything. "Suddenly, the school are saying that if he doesn't take the piercing out, he will stay in isolation, and that only entirely-gold studs are OK for ear piercings.
