Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) is trying her very best to make Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) see he needs to show his mum Faith (Sally Dexter) some support in Emmerdale, as time continues to run out. Right now, Cain is continuing to frustrate his family as he fails to simply be kind to his mum, who only has months left to live following her terminal cancer diagnosis. Cain hasn’t shown his mother any kindness because he feels angry over her past secrets, lies and betrayals. Something that impacted Cain a great deal is the fact Faith knew he had a secret son (Nate Robinson), but never told anyone as she feared what abusive and racist Shadrach would do. It’s very clear Cain puts on a front when he’s around his mum and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) as tonight, after Moira paid him a visit, his mask fell, and he genuinely did look a bit emotional. When Moira returned home, she was annoyed at Cain as he didn’t visit the hospital while Faith had another scan. Cain attempted to be his … [Read more...] about Emmerdale spoilers: Moira opens up about her mum’s death as she begs Cain to support Faith

Emmerdale spoilers: Matty violently explodes but what is tormenting him?
Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) hasn’t really been central to any storylines on Emmerdale recently, seemingly just there to be a friendly face when anyone pops into the Hide for a coffee. He’s generally a kind, sympathetic person who likes to be helpful and supportive. But that’s set to change in upcoming episodes, when the usually good-natured Matty starts behaving out of character. He starts acting in a very moody manner and Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) is concerned. She decides to talk to Ryan (James Moore) about it, to see if he might have an idea about why Matty isn’t his usual self. Matty’s reaction to hearing that Amy has been discussing him with Ryan is an uncharacteristically violent one and he sends a chair flying. His mum Moira (Natalie J. Robb) tries to calm the situation down and it soon becomes clear that she knows what’s going on with her son. She begs him to be honest with Amy about what’s made him so wound up, but will he manage to open up? And what’s … [Read more...] about Emmerdale spoilers: Matty violently explodes but what is tormenting him?
Did you spot the clever and moving tribute to Dot in EastEnders scene tonight?
EastEnders kicked off a brand new era this week by paying tribute to Dot Cotton , and it did so with a superb little throwback to the icon’s very first scene. Monday’s (July 4) edition of the BBC One soap, which marks the beginning of Chris Clenshaw’s reign as Executive Producer, saw Sonia Fowler ( Natalie Cassidy ) enter the cafe after a difficult day at work. ‘Give us a tea, Kath!’, she bellowed at Kathy Beale ( Gillian Taylforth ), before adding: ‘And a glass of water so I can take a paracetamol’. Describing her early shift as a ‘nightmare’, Sonia then revealed that she’d ‘called on the Lord’ so many times that she reckons she’s ‘turning into Dot’. Well, now that you mention it, Son! The scene in question, for those of you who didn’t catch it, is actually a little throwback to Dot’s very first on the serial drama The legendary character, portrayed by June Brown, made her debut in EastEnders on July 4, 1985, during the show’s 40th episode. ‘Give us a … [Read more...] about Did you spot the clever and moving tribute to Dot in EastEnders scene tonight?

Women’s Refuge joins call for mandatory abuse reporting to stop child harm
CHRISTEL YARDLEY/STUFF Malachi Subecz's family speaks after his killer's sentencing. The family is hoping legislative changes will follow the investigation under way so "Malachi's voice has been heard". (This video was first published on June 30,2022.) Women’s Refuge is the latest group to call for those working with children to have a statutory obligation to report child abuse concerns in wake of Malachi Subecz’s murder. The daycare of Subecz, 5, failed to report his extensive injuries to police or child protection services in the month before his murder. “We absolutely support reporting requirements for workforces involved with children, because making it part of a standard professional obligation is a vital part of keeping children safer,” Dr Natalie Thorburn, principal policy advisor at Women’s Refuge, said. However, the Women’s Refuge warned against extending those obligations to households or family members who know a child is being abused. In these cases, … [Read more...] about Women’s Refuge joins call for mandatory abuse reporting to stop child harm
