A TEEN fought for her life when she saw a massive alligator rush toward her with its jaws open near a boat dock on Sunday. The 13-year-old Tampa Bay girl said she struck the menacing gator as it tried to latch onto her - days after an elderly woman was dragged to her death by one of the predators. Briann Morr said she was swimming with friends at the Gardner Boat Ramp in Zolfo Springs when the gator charged her. "I turn around because I heard something go through the water, and the gator tried to grab my foot and I kicked my foot under the water," Briann told NBC 2 . The brave teen said she tried to swim away but was terrified when she saw it come back for more. Disney is revamping “The Proud Family,” a 20-year-old cartoon sitcom about an African American family, and will be featuring a cast that includes two interracial gay dads whose adopted daughter is a teenage racial activist. Actors Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter, both of whom are gay, will be playing Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins and Randall Leibowitz-Jenkins, respectively, according to Entertainment Weekly (EW). The University of Leeds says it is "deeply concerned" that one of its students has been sentenced to 34 years in prison in Saudi Arabia for following activists and dissidents on Twitter. Human rights activist Salma al-Shehab was handed the sentence in a ruling that has been decried by campaigners who say it was the "longest issued against female or male activists". She had initially been sentenced to three years in prison for using the internet to "cause public unrest and destabilise civil and national security" - but was given the new sentence on Monday after an appeals court was asked to consider other alleged crimes. A spokesperson for University of Leeds said: "We are deeply concerned to learn of this recent development in Salma's case and we are seeking advice on whether there is anything we can do to support her.
