The grandmother of the three-year-old boy who was crushed to death by an electric car seat has said her daughter should have been jailed for life. Hairdresser Adrian Hoare, 24, from Gravesend in Kent, placed her young son Alfie Lamb in the footwell of an Audi convertible before he was crushed by the seat after a shopping trip. And now Hoare's mother, Janis Templeton-Hoare, has accused her daughter of being neglectful towards Alfie, saying she cannot forgive her. Kyle Sandilands' new girlfriend Tegan Kynaston has been charged after allegedly slapping a police officer during a public spat with the radio shock jock. The 33-year-old was served with a court summons on Sunday evening after police located at her home in Bondi. Kynaston is accused of damaging Sandilands's luxury Bentley after the two became embroiled in an altercation on Beach Road in Bondi on Saturday morning. Sandilands had reportedly asked a bystander to call triple-zero, and when police arrived Kynaston allegedly then assaulted a female responding officer. She was taken to St Vincent Hospital for mental health evaluation but was released on Sunday before she could be charged. Launched this autumn, Tunnel 29 has become the most unlikely BBC podcast hit. This 10-part story about the digging of a tunnel under the Berlin Wall in 1961 to help people escape from the east to the west has so far garnered more than 3 million listeners. Admittedly it has been plugged hugely on Radio 4 (where the series also ran in late October) and even on BBC TV, but Tunnel 29 is nonetheless a truly exciting yarn. It has worked too because its writer/presenter, Helena Merriman, was given a free hand to report in a more informal style, without losing any authoritative air. Her podcast’s immersive approach, coupled with atmospheric music, creates a sense for the listener of being right there in the tunnel, experiencing the dangers. This style is something that Radio 4’s controller, Mohit Bakaya, appointed in July, tells me he wants to replicate on the network, where appropriate. A British father has died from suspected electrocution at a dam on the Caribbean island of St Lucia. Martin Ellis, 68, was found in an unresponsive state around 4.30pm by police officers at the Sir John Compton Dam in Roseau, St Lucia. The business development director from West London was visiting the island with his three sons.
