Woke theatre-goers warn classic rib-tickler The Lady Killers contains slapstick violence and death

June 30, 2022 by www.thesun.co.uk

THEATRE snowflakes are warning classic rib-tickler The Lady Killers is a bit . . . slapstick. The story — adapted from the 1955 Ealing Comedy film — tells of a gang of useless criminals posing as musicians outfoxed by their feisty landlady after a bank raid. Two of the bumbling crooks fall to their deaths while another is murdered, all unseen by the audience. But customers at the renowned ADC Theatre in Cambridge are warned that the play includes “some comedic/slapstick violence. Death (offstage, implied).” In the Oscar-nominated film version, Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers star alongside Katie Johnson. She steals the show as the wily landlady who ultimately gets to keep the stolen cash. Read more on woke WOKE UP What does being woke mean? Family of Zara Aleena vow to speak to ‘leaders of the country’ in wake of her death

July 1, 2022 by metro.co.uk

The family of Zara Aleena have paid tribute to the ‘big-hearted’ law graduate and vowed to create change in her memory. The 35-year-old died in the early hours of Sunday morning, as she walked through an area just ten minutes from her home. Earlier this week, Zara’s family described the void left by her death as ‘insurmountable.’ ‘She walked. Zara believed that a woman should be able to walk home’, they said. They have now vowed to work with politicians to tackle violence against women and girls. Zara’s death comes after wide-spread vigils following the deaths of others like Sarah Everard, Sabina Nessa, Ashling Murphy and Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman over the course of the last year. Zara’s maternal aunt, Farah Naz, said her ‘independent’ and ‘big-hearted’ niece ‘was the joy, the light of our home’. She today spoke of the family’s determination to ‘change something’ in honour of their loved one. Ms Naz told reporters: ‘I don’t think there is going to be … [Read more...] about Family of Zara Aleena vow to speak to ‘leaders of the country’ in wake of her death

Deaths of 1,000 pigs leads to woman’s arrest

July 1, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

An Iowa woman is in police custody and faces charges following the discovery of more than 1,000 dead pigs. On June 30, deputies responded to a report concerning scores of animals found dead in two different hog confinement sites, according to the Sac County Sheriff's Office. Once on the scene, deputies found the animals in various stages of decomposition. Additionally, deputies learned that Elana Laber, 33, was the individual hired to care for the pigs. Initially, Laber told authorities that the night before the gruesome discovery was reported someone else had shut off the breakers that control the electricity to the two sites. However, a veterinarian working on behalf of law enforcement determined Laber's timeline to be incorrect. The animal specialist stated that the animals had been dead for at least a week. Laber later changed her earlier story, eventually telling deputies that the pigs had, in fact, been dead for a week. Laber also indicated she was unsure of what to … [Read more...] about Deaths of 1,000 pigs leads to woman’s arrest

July 1, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

A snake catcher has recounted the moment he captured one of the world's deadliest serpents—while stuck in a crawl space. Professional Ryan Fuller managed to catch the chilling lunges of the Eastern Brown snake on camera, as he sought to remove it from beneath a house in Queensland, Australia. He ended up on his hands and knees in the cramped space, as the "dramatic" snake defended itself, repeatedly striking. The venom of the Eastern Brown is deadly, with Australian Geographic naming it as the country's most dangerous snake. They're responsible for more deaths Down Under than any other snakes, with the site claiming they're famous for being "[f]ast-moving, aggressive and known for their bad temper." Their venom is ranked as the second most toxic among snakes in the world, as the site noted: "Its venom causes progressive paralysis and stops the blood from clotting, which may take many doses of antivenom to reverse. Victims may collapse within a few minutes." Incredibly, … [Read more...] about Watch moment world’s second deadliest snake lunges at man in a crawl space
