DAREDEVIL Dick Sheppard, a stunt driver and showman who worked on the Italian Job and James Bond films, has died at the age of 90. The dad-of-nine boasted that he had wrecked 2,003 cars, appeared in 500 films and held 18 world records during his career. His death on March 1 was announced by his family on his Facebook page today. They said "Fondly known by many for his obsession with cars and motorbikes he was truly a larger than life character who caught the public's attention with his daredevil stunts and world records. "His final wishes, however, were that we his family might grieve in private so we can reflect on his other roles as husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather." At one point in his career, he held the most records in the Guinness World Book Of Records, though the title was later claimed by New Yorker Ashrita Furman. A JUDGE has sparked fury after telling an accused rapist to marry his terrified victim if he wants to avoid jail in India. Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, the country's top judge, is facing calls to resign, with more than 5,000 people signing a petition for him to quit. The protests began after the judge told a man, accused of raping a minor girl, if he was willing to marry her. Bobde said: “If you want to marry (her), we can help you. If not, you lose your job and go to jail.” His comments sparked public outcry and prompted women’s rights activists to circulate an open letter - which has secured more than 5,200 signatures - calling for his resignation, campaigner Vani Subramanian said on Wednesday. Myanmar coup: Activists vow to keep fighting on deadliest day since military takeover
Activists in Myanmar have vowed bullets will not deter them from their fight to overturn the country's military coup. The United Nations says 38 people were killed on Wednesday - the bloodiest day since last month's widely condemned takeover by army generals.
