My sister is 21 years older and had a daughter before I was even born – boyfriends were more scared to meet her than mum

· March 7, 2021 ·

BILLIONAIRE Bernie Ecclestone proved he is 90 years young when he announced he was going to become a father for the fourth time last year. There was already a yawning age gap between his first daughter Deborah, 66, from his first marriage to Ivy Bamford, and his other girls Tamara, 36, and Petra, 32, who he had with second wife Slavica. In July 2020, Bernie, who is also a grandad and great-grandfather, welcomed son Ace with his wife Fabiana Flossi, 44, at the  age of 89. While some have questioned whether the former chief executive of Formula One should be having more kids so late in life, Tamara has defended him. She said: “He’s a young soul and has an amazing energy. And with what’s going on (in the wider world), some baby news is good news.” So what will it be like to be old enough to be her brother’s mum? Here, women with big age gaps to their siblings tell Jenny Francis all about their unusual relationships. 'My boyfriends were more scared meeting Joanne than … [Read more...] about My sister is 21 years older and had a daughter before I was even born – boyfriends were more scared to meet her than mum

Cancer patient begs those with symptoms to not delay in seeing their GP despite ongoing Covid pandemic

· March 7, 2021 ·

PEOPLE with troubling and unusual symptoms shouldn't delay in seeing their GP despite the Covid-19 pandemic, a cancer patient has warned. Breast cancer patient Alison Tait said early diagnoses could "save your life". Coronavirus restrictions have meant that Brits have been advised to "stay at home to protect the NHS" but this has meant that many people have been left feeling anxious about visiting their GP. Mum Alison Tait was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and was told it had spread to her liver. The lockdowns have been distressing for many people, but for Alison they have meant she had to attend her appointments alone. Despite this she is still urging others to come forward if they have any signs or symptoms of cancer. Speaking to The Sun, Alison said: "I can understand why people might be wary of going to their GP at the moment, but it’s so important to do so. "The sooner cancer is diagnosed the better the chance of successful treatment, so it … [Read more...] about Cancer patient begs those with symptoms to not delay in seeing their GP despite ongoing Covid pandemic

‘I tried to take my life after Dunblane horror – but now I have my happy family’

· March 7, 2021 ·

It was an ordinary Wednesday morning when I woke up on 13 March, 1996. It was snowing and I shivered as I pulled on my red school uniform sweater. We’d moved to Scotland three years earlier – my mum, my stepdad and my 11-year-old brother Joe. I loved my school. I was a happy-go-lucky kid and very settled. Dunblane was a safe, close-knit community. Neighbours were friendly and Joe and I had the freedom to play in the park and walk to school by ourselves. After we’d waved Mum goodbye at home, we walked the short distance to school and Joe went off to his class, which was in a prefab structure on the site, and I went to mine, Primary Four, which was a classroom in the main building. The school had a large gym in the middle and a big field at the back. It was coming up to 9.30am and our class was walking through a corridor to the music room, called the “GP room”, to practise singing for a big assembly later that week. But something wasn’t right. I was standing next to my … [Read more...] about ‘I tried to take my life after Dunblane horror – but now I have my happy family’
