Heart-stopping moment stranded family make a treacherous crossing over a crocodile-infested river before the father slips and falls in

· November 24, 2020 ·

A man slipped and fell while rock hopping across a crocodile-infested river as he lead his family to safety after their car became bogged in the water. Naomi, who did not want to give her surname, was crocodile-spotting with her child when she saw two cars get bogged at Cahills Crossing, in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory on Saturday. One car managed to reverse out but the other, a blue Ford, got stuck, forcing a family of four to climb out and walk across rocks to the other side of the East Alligator River, which is notorious for being full of saltwater crocodiles. A Northern Territory man (pictured) was filmed falling and slipping into a crocodile-infested river as he led his family (also pictured) across the notorious Cahills Crossing in Kakadu National Park in the Top End on Saturday Naomi said the whole ordeal 'was intense to watch'. The White House said Thursday that President Joe Biden will end support for Saudi Arabia's controversial war in Yemen - his first major foreign policy reversal. Britain’s America’s Cup dream over as Sir Ben Ainslie’s challenge ends in 5-2 defeat to New Zealand

· June 8, 2017 ·

T heir mission was to bring the America’s Cup home. But after 166 years of hurt, the British challenge for the 35th America’s Cup ultimately went the way of every other British challenge since that first race around the Isle of Wight back in 1851. From Sir Thomas Lipton to Sir Thomas Sopwith, he of the famous Camel, it has been a miserable run. Knowing they had to win at least two of Thursday’s three races against New Zealand to force their play-off semi-final into a deciding day, Sir Ben Ainslie’s Land Rover BAR team could win only one, going down 5-2 in the first-to-five series. As they crossed the line in front of a packed race village at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda for the final time, 46sec behind their fast-pedalling Kiwi rivals, lungs and arms on fire from three races in the space of little over two hours, heads naturally dropped. “That’s the best we’ve sailed today by a long way,” Ainslie declared defiantly over the radio. It was both a valid point, and an early … [Read more...] about Britain’s America’s Cup dream over as Sir Ben Ainslie’s challenge ends in 5-2 defeat to New Zealand

· February 11, 2021 ·

The first day of arguments at President Donald Trump 's second impeachment trial ended in chaos when Sen. Mike Lee tried to object to evidence that referenced him. Lee took issue with part of Rep. David Cicilline's presentation, which was supposed to show the senators where Trump's mind was at during the deadly January 6 siege. 'Statements were attributed to me moments ago by the House impeachment managers, statements related to the content of conversations between - a phone call involving President Trump and Senator Tuberville, were not made by me, they're not accurate and they're contrary to fact,' Lee said on the heels of primary impeachment manager, Rep. There’s no point being polite about Covid – it’s brutal, says The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne

· February 12, 2021 ·

ACCORDING to the singular Wayne Coyne, “being in The Flaming Lips is like a never ending Spinal Tap moment”. The Tap, as aficionados of the cult Eighties movie like to call them, were a mock rock band whose hapless antics were embarrassingly close to reality. ???? Read our coronavirus liv e blog for the latest news & updates It probably comes as no surprise, therefore, that Coyne and co have given us the pandemic’s most absurdly brilliant musical spectacle. At a time when live shows seem like a distant dream, The Flaming Lips are staging a series of concerts in their home town of Oklahoma City with each band member in their own inflatable “space bubble”. The audience comprises a further 100 bubbles, occupied by either one, two or three people, for a fully immersive yet responsible, socially distanced event. Coyne, who became a dad for the first time in 2019 and turned 60 last month, has been using the see-through spheres at Lips gigs since 2004. So why not … [Read more...] about There’s no point being polite about Covid – it’s brutal, says The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne
