Chichester athletes battle for cross-country honours in Brighton
In a fixture rearranged at the last minute, Sussex cross-country runners returned to Stanmer Park, Brighton, for the second Sussex League fixture. After recent heavy rain, the Lancing course was deemed unfit by the Worthing parks department and it was only the quick thinking of the Brighton and Worthing clubs which enabled the races to go ahead at a different location. THE CHAIRMAN of another passenger campaign group has reiterated Bromsgrove Rail User Group’s (BRUG) calls for Cross Country trains to stop at the town’s station. Dr Stephen Wright is from Railfuture West Midlands which is composed of volunteers with an interest in the railways. The 101/102 Dumfries-to-Edinburgh service via West Linton is to continue beyond the end of its current contract next month, it has been confirmed, but two journeys daily are set to be withdrawn. The South West of Scotland Transport Partnership (SWestrans) met on Friday to decide the fate of the Stagecoach-operated service after Scottish Borders Council withdrew £100,000 in funding.
