NATALIE Garton, 32, is a full-time mum and lives in Derby with her sons Leo, 10, and Riley, seven. Here, she reveals how living with Chron's disease helped her find love. Staring at the balloons above my bed, I could feel myself getting tearful. I’d just turned 30, and had spent the day in hospital preparing for major surgery to have part of my bowel removed and a bag attached to my stomach. Life would never be the same again. During my childhood I’d often suffered from constipation and diarrhoea, but as I’d been born with arthritis doctors assumed this was a side effect of my medication. Stuart and I moved in together and we had Leo in 2008 and then Riley in 2011. The following year we married and it felt like everything was fitting into place. But when we returned from our honeymoon in September 2012, I … [Read more...] about Woman reveals how Crohn’s disease helped her meet the man of her dreams

WHEN she was at school, Lauren Reed was plagued by sharp, stabbing pains in her tummy. At 14, she started to feel tired all the time before noticing splashes of bright red blood in the loo after doing a number two. Mum, Tracy, took her to their family doctor. Investigations were done, but at first, specialists couldn’t find anything wrong. But seven years later, the 21-year-old said she's been left with a "Barbie bumhole", after doctors were forced to remove her rectum to treat severe bowel disease. "They seemed to think I was attention-seeking, even asking me to take pictures of the toilet bowl, after using it, to prove I really was losing blood," Lauren told The Sun. "Over the next couple of years, my symptoms gradually worsened, until I needed to open my bowels up to 15 times daily. Worst of all, I got an awful feeling of urgency whenever I needed to go. "If I couldn’t get to the loo straight away, I couldn’t hold it and might have an accident." Increasingly … [Read more...] about Waitress, 21, left with ‘Barbie bumhole’ after rectum is REMOVED when tummy ache turns out to be Crohn’s disease
CROHN'S Disease is an ongoing and life-long condition once diagnosed and there is no cure for the disease. A mother who used cannabis to treat her Crohn’s disease had to appear at crown court to be sentenced without a barrister to represent her. Sarah Patel, 31, was committed to Cardiff Crown Court for sentence after she admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply. Solicitor Terry Vaux said: “My firm attempted to instruct counsel. “We contacted 13 sets of chambers but since the legal aid order of April 1, they have refused instruction.” The Ministry of Justice introduced a new fees system at the beginning of April and the Criminal Bar Association recommended members should refuse legal aid cases from then on. Sarah Patel and her boyfriend Stephen Jones were sentenced on Monday. Prosecutor Christopher Evans said police searched a property at Upland Drive in Pontypool on July 4 last year.
