IF you want the freshest food for your in-flight meal, you might want to avoid ordering the specialist options such as vegan and gluten free. This is because in some cases, the food could have been prepared up to a year in advance before they're served. American Airlines, who recently made changes to their specialist meals, has confirmed with Sun Online Travel that it could be the case for some of their offering. The change was recently reported in One Mile At A Time, who revealed that for American Airlines passengers: "Diabetic, Asian Vegetarian, Hindu, Muslim, Gluten Free, and Vegan meals will receive standardised and frozen pre-prepared meals, which will have a one year frozen shelf life." An American Airlines spokesperson told Sun Online Travel: "We recently moved to a new vendor to prepare our special meals in order to ensure that we are consistently delivering meals with the correct ingredients to our customers with specific dietary needs. American Airlines passenger disgusted after being served plane food made over 16 months ago
AN AMERICAN Airlines passenger was stunned to find his in-flight meal wasn't as fresh as he thought. After ordering a special meal, he noticed the manufacturing date - which said it was made 16 months ago. Travelling from Dallas to London Heathrow earlier this month, he was served the vegan red curry with steamed rice, after requesting a special meal. However, the manufacturing date revealed it was made on February 11 2018. He tweeted: "@AmericanAir the 'special' meal I received today on AA 50 was apparently prepared in February 2018 (1 year and 4 months old). "I would eat it if you were taking me to Mars, not from DFW to LHR. You need to rethink this strategy."@AmericanAir the "special" meal I received today on AA 50 was apparently prepared in February 2018 (1 year and 4 months old). On trade wars China is playing a careful game, but it holds more cards than Trump
At the beginning of September, Chinese president Xi Jinping incensed Donald Trump by imposing a flurry of new import duties on US goods, including semiconductor chips and mobile phones. For many observers it was just another skirmish in the tit-for-tat trade war that had rumbled on for 20 months. But in Washington it came as a shock, and was the driving force behind Trump’s premature announcement the following month of an interim deal – one that after much wrangling finally came to fruition, or at least appeared to, last week. Trump said his administration would cancel a new round of 15% tariffs on Chinese goods including toys, phones and clothing that was set to take effect this weekend. In tweets, he added that the White House would halve duties already in place on $120bn … [Read more...] about On trade wars China is playing a careful game, but it holds more cards than Trump
