Lisa Marie Presley wants to terminate her marriage to husband Michael Lockwood once and for all. The 53-year-old singer and daughter of Elvis Presley has filed new court documents, obtained by TMZ , asking a judge to declare her single, despite the fact she filed for divorce in June 2016. She has been separated from her estranged husband for nearly five years, but according to the latest documents, he 'refuses' to end their marriage. Lisa says there is no hope to reconcile with Michael and is requesting a bifurcation, which means 'separating marital status from other divorce issues'. If the judge grants her request, Lisa and Michael will both be deemed single in the eyes of the law, while details of their divorce are finalised. The mother-of-four is taking the steps as she wants to 'move forward with my life'. Lisa and Michael married in 2006 and were together for a decade, until the singer filed for divorce from him. THE mum of a 10-year-old boy has told how he keeps throwing himself from heights - after being struck down by an "evil" infection. Fiona Fleming said Brody changed virtually "overnight" leaving the Norfolk schoolboy suffering with intense psychotic episodes. She heartbreakingly revealed: "In April he woke up...and was a completely different child." Fiona told the Mirror she has since been informed he may have a rare condition triggered by an infection which is causing his behaviour to change. "I suffered temporary loss of eye sight because he whipped me around the head with a curtain pole," she revealed. "He had done nothing like that before. I didn't know where to go." Fiona, who lives in Poringland, said from an early age Brody seemed different to other children. At three, he wouldn't play with his classmates and by the age of seven he was staying up for more than 30 hours without sleep, she said. NHS nurses have slammed the government's proposal of a 'pitiful' 1 per cent pay rise after Rishi Sunak warmed Britain will be paying off Covid debts for decades. The Royal College of Nursing said nurses should be getting 12.5% more and said the government should expect a "backlash" should the suggested pay rise goes ahead. A staggering 1 million people will be dragged into paying the higher rate of income tax by 2025 thanks to the Chancellor's plans, they warned - taking the total to 5 million. Paul Johnson, from the IFS, warned that further tax rises are likely to lie ahead and said it was a "tale of two budgets" as the Chancellor extended several support packages including furlough for months to come. He said the tax burden is set to rocket to levels not seen since the 1960s, and warned gloomily: “It is possible we'll see even bigger ones over the next few years”. Mr Johnson said: “Take account of the cuts to planned spending announced in the Autumn and Santa Sunak, … [Read more...] about Budget 2021 news – NHS nurses’ FURY at ‘pitiful’ 1% pay rise after covid created toughest year in living memory
Back in 1986 I made a film for the BBC science series Tomorrow’s World about a remarkable new class of drugs called statins. Studies had shown that statins could cut people’s risk of heart disease by lowering their cholesterol levels. It was all very exciting. Thirty-five years on and statins are now one of the most commonly prescribed drugs in the UK, with around eight million people, including me, taking them daily. Yet they continue to be dogged by controversy and fear of side-effects. Studies had shown that statins could cut people’s risk of heart disease by lowering their cholesterol levels. It was all very exciting Last year, for example, there were claims that statins might increase your risk of dying from Covid-19. Studies had shown that people admitted to intensive care tended to have lower levels of cholesterol, so there was a fear that taking cholesterol-lowering drugs might make you more vulnerable. Well, like so many health scares, this one turned … [Read more...] about DR MICHAEL MOSLEY: Can statins save you from Covid as well as heart disease?
Greece's tourism minister has said Britons hoping for a summer holiday in the country can start booking as it prioritises giving the COVID vaccine to the inhabitants of around 40 small islands. The islands, which each have a population of less than 1,000 people, include Halki near Rhodes, Kastellorizo off the Turkish coast, Meganisi in the Ionian Sea and Kythira in the Peloponnese peninsula, according to the Daily Telegraph. Larger destinations such as Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu will be targeted once Greece's tiniest islands have been vaccinated, the newspaper said. However, UK government has said the earliest date people from England can travel abroad for a holiday is 17 May - that is provided the four tests for easing lockdown are met.
