Sky News has been named News Channel of the Year at the Royal Television Society awards. It scooped a total of five prizes, including best home and international coverage, while Nick Martin was named Specialist Journalist of the Year, and John Ryley, the head of Sky News, won the Outstanding Contribution Award. The channel's special report 'A Warning From Italy' had, the judges said, "brought home the severity of the COVID pandemic early" and had demonstrated "powerful and brave journalism". A STUNNING YouTube video sends you time travelling back to 1920s Paris thanks to artificial intelligence colourising old black and white film. The AI enhanced film shows the daily life of Parisians in 1927 in 4K quality. The 1920s in Paris were often referred to as "les années folles", which means "the crazy years". World-renowned artist Pablo Picasso lived in the city during the decade, as did writers Ernest Hemingway and W.B. Yeats. The video was published by a YouTube account called glamourdaze . It's an edited clip of a series of travelogues created by early film maker Burton Holmes. The original footage was digitised by AV Geeks and preserved on the Prelinger Archive . Clips of the film, called Seeing Paris, were then taken by glamourdaze and then restored with a series of AI techniques. A soundtrack was added to the background for a more immersive experience. Clubhouse app lets Thailand pro-democracy protesters speak freely
Clubhouse is an invite-only audio app that is surging in popularity in Thailand as a youthful protest movement continues to demand reforms of the government and monarchy. Launched in April 2020, Clubhouse recently gained traction among Thai protest circles after Pavin Chachavalpongpun, a self-exiled academic and prominent long-time critic of the Thai monarchy, joined the platform on February 12. Pavin told DW that the police crackdown on political protests in Thailand has contributed to Clubhouse's sudden popularity. "There are no open discussions … so when a new venue is introduced, people jump in to discuss politics," Pavin said. Pavin has already added nearly 300,000 followers in less than two weeks, and he said he noticed that people in many of the chat rooms on the voice-based app discuss the royal family.
